2026
San
Angelo, TX - Our beloved, kind, and generous mother Peggy Lou Berry
Jordan, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 11, 2026. She was
born at home on September 26, 1931 in Dawson, Texas to Jim and
Marguerite Berry. The family tree shows the lineage to George
Washington.
Peggy started school at the age of 4 because her
mother was a teacher and her father was at work. Going to school was
the only option. She graduated from Corsicana High School at the age of
16. Peggy later graduated from Navarro Jr. College.
Peggy met
Wesley Jordan in Corsicana through his sister, Betty. They were married
four years later on June 1, 1951. They were married for 64 years until
his passing in February 2020. After the Korean War, they moved to
Lubbock so Wesley could attend Texas Tech while Peggy worked for Bell
Telephone.
The couple later moved to San Angelo and Peggy
attended and graduated from ASU with a Bachelor of Science Early
Childhood Degree. She wanted to follow in her mother's footsteps to be
a teacher. Peggy taught at Christoval Headstart, Austin, and Fannin
Elementary. She retired in 1996.
Peggy was very courageous and
brave. She was always the first one to try new things like water skiing
or tubing. If she survived, then it was okay for her children to do it!
Peggy
loved adventured and enjoyed traveling. Her first travel companion was
her mother, Marguerite, then when Wesley retired they were able to
travel together. The two went on a few cruises and bus tours. They
traveled to Alaska, panned for gold in Colorado, and white water rafted
in New Medico with their grandson. The couple also visited Alaska,
Arizona, The Grand Canyon, Idaho, Utah, Yellowstone National Park,
Kansas, Branson, Missouri, Arkansas, New Orleans, New York, Niagara
Falls, Illinois, Washington D.C., Canada, Scotland, The Great Wall of
China, Japan, Normandy, Ireland, England, Germany, France, Switzerland,
Hawaii, Jamaica, and Australia just to name a few.
Peggy was
always busy being a member of Retired Teachers of the Concho Valley,
Newtimers, Dinner Club, and Dance Club. She was a member of First
Baptist Church, often volunteering in the nursery or answering the
prayer list phone calls. She wanted her children to learn about God.
Peggy would always find a Baptist church to attend on their summer
vacations.
Peggy is survived by her children Berry Jordan
(Nancy), Tracy Clarke (Tom) of San Angelo, and Kelly Jordan (Lori) of
Flower Mound; two grandsons, Jack Clarke of San Angelo and Terry Clarke
of Bee Cave; two sisters-in-law, Wretha and Belinda Jordan; and

With heavy hearts, we honor the life
of a devoted daddy, pawpaw, family member, friend and craftsman whose
love and presence will be deeply missed. He enjoyed fishing the most,
which wasn't just a hobby to him-it was his peace and his passion.
Whether casting a line at sunrise or telling stories about "the one
that got away," those moments reflected his patience, his humor, and
his appreciation for life's simple pleasures.
By trade, he was a
skilled carpenter, shaping wood with care and precision. Through his
work, he built more than structures-he built a legacy of hard work,
dedication, and pride. The things he made will stand as lasting
reminders of his steady hands and strong spirit.
He will be
remembered for his kindness, his strength, and the deep love he had for
his family. Though he is no longer with us, his memory lives on in
every story shared, every lesson taught, and every moment of love he
leaves behind. He was deeply loved, and he will never be forgotten.

Notes:
Robert Barnes "Barney" Thomas
Feb 14, 1939 - Sep 29,
2025
Robert
Barnes Thomas was released from this earth on September 29,2025 from
what medical professionals' term "heart failure". His heart, however,
succeeded in all the ways that matter most. Robert was lovingly known
as Barney, Dad, Grandad or Great-Grandaddy.
He arrived as a
Valentine's baby in 1939 to Hazel (Grace) and Sam Johnston Thomas.
Often it was mentioned of how sweet Barney always appeared to be to
those who encountered him. He packed a lot of life in his 86 years in
Eureka, Texas where he was proud to have been raised along with his
sisters, Patsy (Galen) Crawford and Billie Rash, and brothers: Sammy
(Peggy)Thomas, Roy (Sheila) Thomas, and the twins, Dave (Donna) Thomas
and Dan (Pam) Thomas. He attended school at Navarro, which then became
Mildred. Later, he was honored to return as a school board member and
continued to support the Mildred Eagles throughout his life.
Barney
would often tell that he met the love of his life, Patricia (Weaver),
in a pretty, little grey sweater dress at a small football game in town
that was well chaperoned with family. They were married for 66 years
before Heaven called her home in 2024. She has remained in his heart
and soul. Together, they raised their two sons, Robby and Randy Thomas.
Before Randy passed away, he complimented his father by repeatedly
telling him how much he loved him and that he had always been his best
friend and a wonderful father.
Barney was blessed to retire
among his friends at Anchor (Chattanooga) Glass and then later retired
from Mildred ISD, where he worked in maintenance and drove a bus. He
served as the Mayor of Eureka for 25 years and as a council member for
five years. He was a member of the Eureka Masonic Lodge #1060. He tried
to assist many who needed a helping hand. We take great comfort in
knowing that he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior as a young
man and was baptized. He was a faithful member of the Eureka United
Methodist Church.
He loved listening to gospel country hits and
watching westerns on his tv along with the Texas Rangers and the Texas
Longhorns. He volunteered for many occasions in Navarro County as a
cook and on various committees. He loved working in the fields and
driving a tractor along with tending to cattle and horses. Barney and
Patricia loved spending time with their family and friends, even opened
their home for some to live with them. They tried to never miss a ball
game or school function of their grandsons in which they actively
cheered. Their grandsons were always welcomed at their home, and they
gladly participated in everything for them. We always knew to count on
Grandad for assistance on how to do literally anything and he would be
right there to lend a helping hand or just give much needed support.
Barney's
smile and loving hands will be missed most by his family: Robby and
Teresa Thomas, and Pamela Thomas (Randy), his grandsons: Stayton and
Lockie, Zachary and Miranda Thomas, Jacob and Natalie Thomas along with
his great grandchildren: Rylie and Hudson Thomas, and Lane Thomas.
His
family expresses their gratitude for care given to him by Kerens Care
Center, Ashley Campbell, New Century Hospice, Brookdale Assisted
Living, Terrie Anderson's Caregivers (Terrie and Lisa), Bristol
Hospice, Cedar Lake Home Health and Rebecca Richards.
He was
preceded in death by his parents: Sam and Hazel Thomas, his wife:
Patricia (Weaver) Thomas, son: Randy Thomas, brother: Sammy Thomas and
sisters: Patsy (and Galen) Crawford and Billie Rash, sisters-in-law:
Jackie Adams Thomas, and brothers-in-law: Robert (and Mary Jean) Weaver
and Douglas Weaver.
Pallbearers will be Rusty Jones, Bill Cunnigham, his nephew: Jeff
Weaver and his grandsons: Stayton, Zachary and Jacob.
A
visitation will be held from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on Wednesday October 1,
2025 at Corley Funeral Home, with a Funeral Service Scheduled for 10:00
am on Thursday October 2, 2025, and Corley Funeral Chapel, with an
Interment Service to follow immediately after at Eureka Cemetery in
Eureka TX.
Instead of flowers, please make donations to The
Mildred Education Foundation, Eureka Volunteer Fire Department, Eureka
United Methodist Church for their Lord's Acre, Navarro County Youth
Expo or choose a family to support during the holidays. These all held
special places in Barney's heart.

Alvina Louise (Gann) Worley
Mar 23, 1938 - Mar 18,
2026
Alvina Louise Worley
passed away quietly at home March 18, 2026, after a long battle with
Alzheimer's Disease. Being born in the Oak Cliff area of Dallas on
March 23, 1938, the daughter of Alvin James Gann and Dorothy Ophelia
Daniels. She has been proceeded in death by her husband Robert "Joe"
Worley, father Alvin Gann, her mother Dorothy Gann, and brother Steve
Gann. She is survived by her sister Gloria Jean Smith (husband Glen)
sons Dan (Alisha Worley) and David, grandchildren Randy and Rusty
Worley, Sarah Guevara, and Danson (Jocee) Worley, multiple great
grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles. Alvin Gann
was drafted into the Army just as WWII was ending and sent to Japan.
When he returned home, the family walked to church each week because
they had sold their car to support the war effort. Al after being in
the Army, walked so fast Alvina and her sister Gloria Jean could barely
keep up.
Alvina attended Lisbon Elementary School and Boude Storey Junior High.
Just down the street from where she lived was Jacob's Grocery at the
corner of Lancaster Road and Maywood where a young fellow named Joe
Worley worked, stocking the shelves and keeping things tidy. Alvina
would ride her bicycle down there to get a glimpse of him and write,
"Alvina + Don" in the condensation on the refrigerated case doors.
Because Joe worked so hard to keep things looking nice-and because he
secretly liked seeing Alvina, this appeared to make him mad!
This little game went on for some time but eventually ended on a double
date with Alvina and her friend Anita going out with Joe and another
young man. Supposedly, Anita was to be Joe's date. But somehow, Alvina
ended up with Joe! On October 16, 1953, Joe and Alvina were married at
Fernwood Baptist Church in Dallas Texas. In 1955 along came Dan and
in1959 came David.
Alvina was a faithful servant of her Lord Jesus Christ leading Joe and
both Dan and David to a saving knowledge of Jesus along with many
others. She was tireless worker both at an employer's place of
business, at home, or at church. She believed and lived that prayer
changes things and that God is in control of all things. She is at home
now, at peace in the loving arms of Jesus.
If you choose in lieu of flowers, consider memorial donations to either
Dallas Baptist University or the Alzheimer's Association.

Scott Foster Skews
Nov 1, 1950 - Apr 21, 2026
Scott Foster Skews
was born November 01, 1950, to Leslie Kenneth Skews and Jo Nell Skews,
in Corsicana, Texas.
He was a master cabinet maker, a devoted husband, a loving father, a
caring brother and a faithful friend to many. Scott passed away
peacefully on April 21, with his family by his side. He leaves behind a
legacy of love, devotion, humor, loyalty, craftsmanship and an
undeniable spirit.
Scott was known throughout the Corsicana community as a remarkable
cabinet maker whose work reflected both artistry and precision. Though
small in stature, he carried himself with a presence far larger than his
frame. His mother, Jo, often said he was "like an ant carrying a loaf
of bread"-a man whose determination, strong will, and big voice could
move mountains. That same drive, poured into decades of hard work, took
a
toll on his body, but never dimmed his fire.
Scott's father, Les, served in the Air Force, so the family moved
often, even spending a couple of years in Germany when Scott was a
young boy. But Corsicana was always home. While his father was away,
Scott helped
take care of his younger siblings and was a nurturer and a fierce
protector. Family was always at the center of who he was. He shared a
particularly close bond with his mother, Jo, even buying the house
directly across the street from her so he and his own family could
remain nearby.
He met his first wife, Del, while visiting friends in Berkeley,
California. They shared many years together and welcomed a daughter,
Alethea Deva Skews, into the world before parting ways.
In time, Scott began a new life with his first love, Janet, his
childhood sweetheart. They met at the tender age of thirteen when Janet
lived across the street from Scott's grandparents, Bobe and G.B. Scott.
After many years apart, they reunited and their old relationship
blossomed into a new deep and enduring love. They married in 1987,
blending their families together with Janet's daughters, Sherri and
Lecia, whom he loved as his own and he would remain as their support
from that day forward. Together, they built a home, a family, and a
lasting partnership. They never spent time apart and captured many
memories on their home video camera, watching those films many times
over with laughter and love. Janet would be by his side for the rest of
his life.
Music was one of Scott's greatest joys. As a teen, he learned to play
the drums and started his own band. He shared his passion for music
deeply with his daughter, Alethea, and his best friend, Bob. His
favorite band was Rush, and their music became the soundtrack of their
bond.
Scott donated his time and skills to Habitat for Humanity to give back
to the community because the community had given him so much work and
he was grateful. With the help of Bob Dewitt, numerous volunteers and
Sherri's hard work, they built Sherri her first house in June 2011.
What a special present to leave.
Scott was also a committed coach and mentor. As a softball coach, he
encouraged Alethea from her earliest games all the way to her becoming
the first girl in Corsicana to earn a softball scholarship at Eastern
Oklahoma State College for pitching. Although she had to play her first
game without him present when she was at college, his influence and
support were felt with every step and pitch.
If Scott was anything, he was loyal. He also could be a bit stubborn –
right? His expressions and unmistakable voice let you know he was in
the room. When the Dallas Cowboy's would lose, he would walk around the
house and yell, "HOW BOUT DEM BOYS NOW!" As a true Viking fan, he never
got to see them win the big one. He was charming and funny. Those that
knew him appreciated his sense of humor and knew they were fortunate to
call him their friend.
Scott is survived by his wife, Janet Charline Skews; his daughter,
Alethea Deva Skews; his stepdaughters, Sherri Eizabeth Mullin, Lecia
Leeann Greer; his brothers Geoffrey Alan Skews, Kevin David Skews, and
his sisters Krystle Concetta Skews-Nichols and Sharon Carter.
He was also the proud grandfather to four grandchildren by his
stepdaughters, Taylor L. Fuqua, Abryan G. McGee, Christian D. Mullin
and Tristan T. Mullin and 5 great grandchildren: Fiona, Freya, Finley
Fuqua
and Andre C. and Isabel R. Mullin.
Scott's life was meaningful and precious to those that knew him and
loved him. He was not defined by grand gestures, but by the everyday
acts of devotion-showing up, building, teaching, listening, and loving.
He will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.

Timothy Jason Thetford
February 2, 1983 —
December 12, 2025
Kopperl, Texas
Timothy
Jason "TJ" Thetford, born on February 2, 1983, went to his heavenly
home on December 12, 2025, at the age of 42. TJ lived in Kopperl,
Texas, with his beloved wife, Carie Thetford.
TJ loved life and
everything it had to offer - fishing, hunting, camping, and spending
time with his family. He was a passionate sports fan who especially
loved his Dallas Cowboys, never missing a game. When the Cowboys
weren't playing, he could always be found watching college football,
old reruns of games from years past, or tuning in to hunting and
fishing shows. Wherever he was - at home, in the hospital, or anywhere
else - there was sure to be football on the TV.There are no words that
can fully capture who TJ was - you truly had to know him to understand
how special he was. He faced a long and difficult fight with persistent
infections, but his strength and spirit never wavered.
He was
blessed to return home and pass peacefully, just as he wanted,
surrounded by love. On that day, heaven gained a very special angel.TJ
will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Carie; his mother, Becky; his
father, T.J.; his stepdaughter, Octavia, and her husband, William; and
their children - Annabelle, Parker, John, Jude, and baby Easton. He
will also be dearly missed by his brothers, Jason and wife Cat, Philip
and wife Amanda, and Josh; his sisters, Jacey and husband Wayne, and
Jessica and husband Brandon; along with countless nieces and nephews
whom he absolutely adored.
TJ's love for his family was endless,
and his presence will be deeply felt and forever remembered. While we
grieve his loss, we take comfort in knowing there is a joyful
celebration in heaven as TJ is reunited with his son, Hagen; his
stepdad, Clyde; his dear stepchildren, Eddie and Amanda; and his
beloved grandparents. What a beautiful reunion that must be.
TJ
will be cremated, and a celebration of his life will be held at Navarro
Mills at a later date. He will be forever loved, forever missed, and
never forgotten.

Marianne Rosa Metzger-Cerullo
Sep 29, 1925 – Jul 29, 2024
Born
in the quiet village of Graben, in Baden-Württemberg, Germany, Marianne
Rosa Metzger came into the world named in loving tribute to her mother
and grandmother. A daughter of Heinrich and Rosa (Maier) Metzger, her
family's roots ran deep-having lived in Graben for centuries, shaping
both its traditions and its land.
From an early age, Marianne's
life reflected the era's demands and her family's rural livelihood. Her
days were filled with the chores expected of young girls, but she also
helped her father cultivate vegetables, asparagus, and other crops on
his farmland in Hainhof and Spöck, areas now part of the city of
Stuttensee. Traveling between home and fields by horse-drawn buckboard
wagon, she learned the rhythms of hard work and resilience.
A
lifelong member of the Evangelical Church of Graben, Marianne showed
early promise in both academics and gymnastics. Her athletic grace
suggested possibilities that might have flourished in a more peaceful
time.
In 1948, she met and married August Metzger-a newcomer to
Graben who happened to share her last name, a common surname across
Germany and Europe.
Together, they built a loving home and raised two children: a daughter and a son who became the joy of her life.
Marianne
spent all of her working life at Siemens in Karlsruhe, a company she
remained loyal to until retirement. After August's passing, she devoted
herself to her family and job, caring for her aging parents and finding
comfort in her hobbies-crocheting, sewing, cooking, and traveling. She
ventured beyond Germany, visiting Spain, the Netherlands, Italy, and
making cherished trips to the United States to see her daughter Christa
and grandchildren.
In time, love found her again in Luigi
Cerullo, a colleague from Siemens. They eventually married and, upon
retirement, built a home in Italy, embracing a new chapter together.
After Luigi's passing, Marianne moved to Blooming Grove, Texas to live
with her daughter Christa-surrounded by her beloved grandchildren and
great-grandchildren.
Sadly, Marianne passed away on July 29,
2024, in Blooming Grove, Texas, at the age of 98. She was preceded in
death by her parents Heinrich and Rosa, her younger brother Luckie, her
first husband August, second husband Luigi, and her beloved
children
Norbert and Christa. She is survived by her brother Otto and his wife
Gertrud, as well as her grandson Johnny-all of Germany. She leaves
behind many loved ones in Texas: grandchildren Mary Kathleen English
(Daniel), Ann Marie Hazelwood Matthew), Christa Gail Williams (David),
Barbara Jo Downey (Ryan), and Hope Nichole Sheehan (Oliver); along with
a multitude of great and great-great grandchildren whose lives were
brightened by her presence.
Marianne was cherished by family,
friends, and everyone fortunate enough to cross her path. Her 98 years
were marked by love, strength, and an unwavering commitment to living
life to the fullest.
