The Sons of the Republic of Texas Chapter #31 for Navarro County is reactivating and is meeting on Saturday, August 22, at
11:00 am. Current and prospective members will tour the Pearce Museum at Navarro College.  Males who can prove descent from an ancestor who lived in the Republic of Texas, between March 2, 1836, and February 19, 1846, are eligible to join.  We also invite current and potential Daughters of the Republic of Texas to attend, to discuss reviving the Navarro Chapter of the DRT.  Hope to see you at the museum!

Hello NCGS members!
Our September 12th meeting is right around the corner, and we’re looking forward to a lively morning at the Corsicana Public Library. We’ll gather at 10:00 a.m. in the library’s meeting room.

This quarter we have the pleasure of hosting the Mary Francis Spain Rogers Essay Contest winners — bright students from Dawson, Mildred, and Frost High Schools. They’ll be reading their winning essays and sharing the stories they uncovered. These presentations are always a highlight, and this year’s group promises fresh curiosity and heart. Come enjoy the morning, cheer on our young historians, and be part of the tradition.

You’ll soon receive your new issue of Navarro Leaves and Branches in the mail. This edition includes a 2027 membership form. With the touch of cooler weather we’ve had these last few days, it’s easy to start looking forward to next year and all the good work ahead.

Here’s a look at what you’ll find in Navarro Leaves and Branches:
