James Donald "Don" Paschal
Mar 20, 1932 - Nov 4, 2025
Corsicana -
James Donald "Don" Paschal passed away peacefully on
November 4, 2025 in his hometown of Kerens, Texas, surrounded by family
and friends. Born on the first day of spring, March 20, 1932, to J.A.
and Lillian Paschal, Don brought warmth and renewal
wherever he went. He was preceded in death by his parents and his
beloved sister, Betty Ullman.
Don is survived by his devoted wife of 70 years, Jean Ann Paschal of
Kerens; sons Mark Paschal and wife Andrea of Dallas, John Paschal of
Dallas, and David Paschal of Kerens; and cherished nieces Donna Ellis
and husband Richard of Plano and Diane Graham of College Station. He
also leaves behind a number of grandnieces and nephews, cousins, and
lifelong friends who will continue to honor his memory.
A man of tireless energy and many talents, Don was a funeral director
for more than 50 years, many of those years as owner of Paschal Funeral
Homes in Kerens and Malakoff. He retired in 2000 but continued to hold
an active funeral director's license until last year, making him one of
the oldest active licensees in the state of Texas. Long before
emergency services were centralized, Don was affectionately known as
"Kerens' 911" - always the first to respond in times of need and
comfort.
Don was a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Kerens throughout
his life and served as a deacon for over 60 years, exemplifying his
steadfast faith and devotion to his church family. He also co-owned and
operated Maywood Manor Nursing Home,
provided the first mini-warehouses in Kerens, and managed his family
farm and cattle operation, where he found his greatest joy.
Don loved his hometown deeply and gave himself to its care and growth.
He served as Mayor of Kerens, on the Kerens School Board, with the
Kerens Cemetery Association, in the Kiwanis Club, and on several
Navarro County boards. He was also instrumental in
establishing the Kerens Library, a reflection of his belief in
community and lifelong learning. A proud member of the Texas National Guard, Don lived a
life of quiet service, integrity, and deep faith.
Those who knew Don will never forget his welcoming spirit - he greeted
everyone who entered his home or crossed his path with a warm smile, a
ready handshake, and often, a story. He had a way of making people feel
seen, valued, and missed when they left. He was known for humming
tunes throughout the day, a gentle melody that
became part of the soundtrack of his life—so constant that friends
often said, "You can hear Don coming before you see him."
His love of nature was amazing; his knowledge of trees, flowers, and
the changing seasons was endless, and he delighted in sharing that
wisdom with others. To many, Don was a living historian—a "wealth of
knowledge" about Kerens, Navarro County, and the generations who have
called it home. Don will be remembered for his eternal
positivity, sense of humor,
humility, and boundless love for family and community. He leaves behind
a legacy not just of service, but of warmth, joy, and grace.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 pm Wednesday at Paschal Funeral Home. Funeral
services will be 10 am Thursday at First Baptist Church, Kerens, with
Reverend Danny Sandifer and Reverend Olin Boles officiating. Burial
will follow at Kerens City
Cemetery. Pallbearers are A.L. Atkeisson, Norton Connor, Larry
Christie, Bobby Bain, Bryan
Ainsworth, Phil Posey, Benny Cherry, and Dolwin Smallwood. Honorary
pallbearers are deacons of the Frist Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of
Kerens and the Kerens City Cemetery Association.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." - Matthew 25:21 |

John William "Bill" O'Neal
Apr 8, 1942 - Nov 3, 2025
Corsicana - John
William "Bill" O'Neal wasn't born on April 8, 1942.
Rather, he galloped into existence in Corsicana, Texas riding a bucking
horse on that date! When he was a little boy, he spent treasured hours
at the Ideal, Palace and Grand Theatres in Corsicana riding the range
with Gene Autry and Roy Rogers. His parents, Mr. William Causby "Bud"
and Mrs. Jessie Lucille O'Neal, taught him to love God, and Bill was a
devoted Christian till he rode off into the sunset on November 3, 2025.
Bill started writing stories when he was just a young cowpoke, and when
he grew up, he spent many delightful days writing about the American
West. His four daughters, Lynn, Shellie, Berri and Causby, rode shotgun
with him on his adventurous research trips, and Bill's devotion to his
girls knew no bounds. Ever interested in his daughters' lives and
dreams, he faithfully attended their ballgames, concerts, and play
performances. He continued this tradition with his grandchildren. Bill
began his teaching career as a high school football coach in Anna,
Waskom, and Lampasas, and always willing to wear multiple hats, he was
also called upon to serve as principal and Spanish teacher! He began
teaching at Panola College in 1970, and he spent four decades there
giving lectures, often appearing in costume. On any given day, he could
be seen strolling across campus as a Revolutionary War officer, a
frontiersman, or a medieval lord. Mr. O'Neal loved giving talks about
history, and though he made appearances on TBS, The History Channel,
The Learning Channel, CMT, and A & E, no engagement and no town was
too small! He loved telling everyone about history, and his motto was,
"You don't know who you are till you know who you were!" Bill was a
lifelong Baptist, and he served as department coordinator and Sunday
School teacher for decades at Central Baptist Church in Carthage,
Texas. Bill lassoed a number of awards during his time riding the
range. He served two terms as State Historian of Texas (his wife Karon
proudly bore the title "Chief of Staff" for that office, riding with
him across Texas to passels of appearances); he received the A C Greene
Literary Award in 2015; the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Wild
West History Association; True West Magazine's Best Living Non-Fiction
Writer for 2007; the NOLA Book of the Year for his book, The Johnson
County War; and an Honorary Doctor of Letters from his beloved alma
mater, East Texas A&M University. Bill was a prolific writer,
authoring 59 books. Bill leaves behind devoted family in this earthly
corral: survivors are his daughter, Lynn O'Neal Martinez and son-in-law
Rudy Martinez of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter Shellie O'Neal of
Corsicana, Texas; daughter Berri O'Neal Gormley and son-in-law Drew
Gormley of Colleyville, Texas; daughter Causby O'Neal Henderson and
son-in-law Dusty Henderson of Van Alstyne, Texas; sister Judy O'Neal
Smith of Lampasas, Texas; and brother Mike O'Neal and sister-in-law
Jerilynn O'Neal of Carrollton, Texas. His grandchildren are Chloe and
Camille Martinez, Jessie Martinez, Bailey and Casey Leath, Kendall
Henderson, Addie Gormley, Nolan Gormley, and Reagan Gormley. He also
leaves behind beloved nieces and nephews: Chris Smith, Molly Johnson,
Ross O'Neal, Ryan O'Neal, Shelley Davis James, Brent Davis, Kyle Ashby,
and Katy Ashby. The final round-up for Bill will be: Visitation at
Jimerson-Lipsey Funeral Home, Carthage on Thursday, November 6 from 5-8
pm, and funeral on Friday, November 7 at 11 am at Central Baptist
Church in Carthage, Texas. The graveside service will be held at Pattison Cemetery in
Emhouse, Texas on Friday, November 7 at 4:00 pm.
Cowhands (pallbearers) are Dusty Henderson, Drew Gormley, Rudy
Martinez, Don Clinton, Greg Powell, Casey Leath, Darren Wilkerson, and
Nolan Gormley. Trail bosses (Honorary pallbearers) are Larry McNeill
and Mike O'Neal. Officiating the funeral will be Dr. Charles Dodson,
longtime friend and pastor of the O'Neal family. The family requests
that any memorial donations be given to Central Baptist Church of
Carthage, Texas. We wish you happy trails, Bill, and we thank you for
blazing a clear and picturesque trail so we could ride, romp, and
explore with you! |

Harold
Dean Coffey
Mar 13, 1936 - Jan 16, 2026
Corsicana - To his
extensive family, who loved him so dearly, Harold
was everyone's Big Daddy. With broken hearts, we share that Big Daddy
'took his trip on the good ole gospel ship and bid this world goodbye'
on January 16, 2026, with the love of his life, Nancy, by his side.
He was born in Corsicana to Lorene and James Coffey on March 13, 1936,
and left a legacy of wild-haired stories of his childhood and teenage
years in that town. The recalling of his youthful shenanigans provided
entertainment at the annual Corsicana High School reunion, class of
'54, and brought belly laughs from his awe-struck grandkids as he
retold those same stories at the dinner table, as sometimes needed, in
censored form!
After a year of scholarship football at the University of North Texas,
a knee injury changed his intended path, and he began an almost 70
years run of storied jobs. Harold was the definition of hard work and
sacrifice and never shied away from a job that would provide for his
family: pool hall hustler, K. Wolens salesman and manager, Bethlehem
Steel worker, National Guard cook, funeral home embalmer, clothing
buyer, flea market store owner, semi-truck driver, food truck owner and
more.
Harold and Nancy met in 1981 on a blind date in Dallas, set up by a
mutual friend, and were smitten with each other from the day they met
until he drew his last breath. Theirs was a once-in-a-lifetime love
that was visible and admired by many. He was her pillar of strength,
and Nancy was his forever loyal and soft-landing spot. We are grateful
for His promise of eternal life, as we trust they will someday be
reunited.
Harold purchased a home with some rural acreage for he and Nancy in
Van, Texas, in 1997, which became known lovingly by the family as "the
farm." The environment they created in this special place provided
years of respite and immense joy for their growing, blended family. He
and Nancy extended a welcome mat for anyone who wanted to come and
temporarily forget their struggles and complexities in life to put up
their feet at the farm. Fond memories include his expansive garden, his
incredible smoked meat and home-cooked meals, teaching grandkids how to
catch their first fish in his stock pond, long golf cart drives down
the old country road, fireworks, family gatherings, his many beloved
farm pets and animals, pool time, poker games, darts and shotgun
shooting, and smoking, drinking and telling long tales on the back
porch. Although hard work was his core, he also knew how to fully enjoy
life and taught others to embrace the same.
Harold will be remembered for so many wonderful attributes, including
his work ethic, his kind heart, his big laugh and the unconditional
love he extended to anyone lucky enough to know him. Rest in peace, Big
Daddy, until we see you again.
Harold was predeceased by his parents, James and Lorene Coffey;
brother, James Coffey; son, Jerry Coffey; step-son, Sean Ryan; one
grandson and one great granddaughter.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Price Coffey; daughter, Sherrie
Roberts; sons DeWitt and Patrick Coffey; step-son, Tim Ryan;
step-daughters Kim O'Con and Katy Bernshausen; 19 grandchildren, 24
great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
A celebration of life service will be held on February 21, 2026 @ 2pm.
Union Chapel Church, 20117 Hwy 110, Van, TX, 75790. For anyone sending
flowers, they can only be received at the chapel 12p-5p Fri, 2/20, and
9a-noon, 2/21. Small town, small church! |

a distinguished career as a forensic accountant and comptroller, where
he was known for his sharp mind and integrity.

actions reflected the love and grace he found in his beliefs.
Beyond his professional and military service, Sam was a man of many
passions. He relished the simple pleasure of smoking his pipe while
recounting stories of past adventures. Football season was a special
time for Sam, who never missed a Corsicana Tigers or Dallas Cowboys
game, his cheers echoing the passion he had for the sport. His
commitment to youth was evident in his roles as a little league coach
and scout master, where he mentored many young individuals, shaping
their characters and instilling in them values that they would carry
into adulthood.
As a proud member of the Texas Tech Dad's Association, he supported and
encouraged education, and his legacy of learning continues through his
family. Sam's loving wife, Beverly Clarke, stood by his side in every
chapter of their lives together. He was a guiding light to his
children, Angelia Holley (Dave), Randall Clarke (Kathryn), and Robert
Clarke, and a playful and wise grandfather to Colin Ives (Saige), Brian
Ives (Cecelia), Catherine Huntington (Connor), Annabella Clarke, Samuel
Clarke, and Alexandra Clarke.

on in the hearts of his family and friends. Described as loving,
intelligent, and friendly, Sam Clarke's legacy is one of love,
laughter, and the pursuit of excellence. His life was a testament to
the power of kindness and the enduring strength of family bonds. As we
bid farewell to Sam, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the
countless lives he touched with his generosity and spirit.

James Clayton McCain
Nov 20, 1939 - Apr 25, 2022
James Clayton McCain was born November
20, 1939, at the P&S Hospital in Corsicana to Pete and Thelma
Thomas McCain. His father served as the Corsicana Chief of Police, the
Navarro County Sheriff, and as a private investigator to Navarro
County. Growing up with his younger brother Dennis, Clayton loved
horses, horse shows, camping, and old cars. He especially enjoyed
baseball, which he played in high school. His freshman year at
Corsicana High School, Clayton started a romance with a very pretty
lady named Margie he saw at school. This teen romance started in ninth
grade and continued with their marriage as seniors. Clayton's English
teacher asked Margie to not do his lessons for him.
Clayton and Margie were married at Petty's Chapel their senior year at
Corsicana High School, on August 10, 1957, and were blessed with 64
years of marriage. Clayton joined the Navy Reserve while in high
school. After graduation, he was attending Navarro Junior College to be
an engineer when he was called to serve in the Navy. He served two
years of active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis on the USS Lake
Champlain as a Gunner's Mate and then two more years in the Navy
Reserve. Clayton then worked for the Austin Bridge Company for 32
years, and then ten years for GSI Highway before retiring. Retirement
did not last long for Clayton, as he went back to work for Balfour for
ten years with his wife Margie selling letter jackets and rings to high
schools in the Austin area. He was a wonderful provider for his family
and wanted the best for each and every one of them. Clayton loved to
travel with his wife, his kids, and his parents. When his kids were
younger, the challenge was always finding a good RV park for the kids
to play in, with a great pool for them to swim. Members of the Rolling
Wheels RV Club, Clayton really enjoyed driving his RV to Alaska with
Margie, although he discovered the truth in the old saying that Alaska
has horrible roads. He also enjoyed taking his granddaughter on
vacation to New Mexico and seeing the snow and the look on her face as
she saw the snow. One of his most unforgettable vacations was taking
Margie on a cruise to see all the ports he went to while on the USS
Champlain.
Clayton loved his 1963 side step pick-up. A member of the International
Show Cars Association, he was so proud when his truck won nationals in
2003, earning him the National ring. He was also a member of the
American Legends and the American Quarter Horse Association. He loved
helping his granddaughter Jaycee learn the love of riding horses and
taking care of them. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing and running.
He loved Mexican food and OMI. A kind and soft-spoken man, he was loyal
and dedicated to his family and friends. With their strong faith, he
and Margie were members of Petty's Chapel Baptist Church and Westside
Baptist Church of Corsicana and after moving to Mesquite were members
of Shiloh Terrace Baptist Church until moving to Georgetown.

Cecil Daniel "Donnie" Gillen
Apr 7, 1936 - Jan 25, 2026
Cecil
"Donnie" Gillen went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 25, 2026,
at the age of 89. He was born on April 7, 1936, to Dick and Hazel
Gillen in Blooming Grove, Texas. Donnie attended school in Blooming
Grove and graduated with the Class of 1954.
Growing up in a
large family, Donnie understood the meaning and value of hard work. He
began his career working alongside his father at Austin Paving Company,
during his high school years with his uncle, Mack Stevenson at his
service station, later joining Nabors Trailer Company, and eventually
owning and operating Gillen's Exxon until his retirement in 1999.
On March 15, 1958,
Donnie married his high school sweetheart, Peggy Flovin, and together
they shared over 67 wonderful years of marriage. They welcomed a
daughter and later a granddaughter, who were the light of his life.
Known affectionately as "Grandad," Donnie spent countless hours at his
Exxon station teaching “his girls” life lessons and sharing his wisdom.
Donnie and Peggy
loved to travel, often setting out on spontaneous road trips just to
see where the road would lead. They also enjoyed family trips to the
National Finals Rodeo and team roping events, as long as they were
surrounded by loved ones. Donnie’s passion for rodeo began as a bull
rider and continued as a calf roper before transitioning to team
roping. He cherished taking his daughter, Vicki, to high school rodeos
and later supporting his granddaughter, Morgan, at livestock shows and
softball games - sometimes both on the same day. When not spending time
with family, Donnie could be found under a trailer wiring the lights,
as he was known as the "best trailer light wiring guy around".
Donnie volunteered
at the Navarro County Youth Expo, with the Lamb Show. During Morgan’s
high school years, he took pride in preparing the CISD softball fields
for games, ensuring they were always in the best condition possible for
his "softball girls." Donnie was a faithful member of First Baptist
Church, Corsicana, where he attended the Clark Sunday School Class. In
his later years, he enjoyed buying antiques and helping Peggy with her
antique business, as well as spending time with friends at their
favorite Friday night auction.
Donnie was preceded
in death by his parents; siblings Jerry Gillen, Johnny Gillen, Betty
Campbell, Kathy Campbell, and Megan Gillen; and his in-laws, Newt and
Wilma Flovin.
He is survived by
his loving wife, Peggy of Corsicana; daughter Vicki and husband Randall
Arnett of Corsicana; granddaughter Morgan and husband Judson Limmer of
Carmine; siblings Lelia and husband James Brown of Mesquite, Mike
Gillen of Pattonville, Pam and husband Cliff Giese of La Grange, and
Larry and wife Terri Gillen of Blooming Grove; as well as numerous
nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Pallbearers will be
nephews Jerry Brown, Hank Campbell, Matthew Giese, Josh Gillen, Randy
Gillen, and Rodney Gillen.
Honorary pallbearers
will be long time friends, Joe Haden, Buck Holditch, Victor Husband,
Eddie Mahone, and Bobby Reagan.
The family extends
heartfelt thanks to the second-floor staff of Navarro Regional Hospital
for their wonderful care.
In lieu of flowers,
donations may be made to First Baptist Church, Corsicana; Navarro
County Youth Expo; or the charity of one's choice in Donnie's name.

Jerry Wayne Robinson
May 25, 1940 - Dec. 26, 2025
Jerry Wayne Robinson, a devoted Christian who loved & served his
Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, a cherished husband, family man, and
friend, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2025, in his hometown of
Corsicana, TX, where he was also born on May 25, 1940. Jerry, known for
his boundless kindness and handyman skills, lived a full life marked by
love, service, and music.
Jerry's journey began as the son of Loyd and Gladys (Christie)
Robinson, and he grew up alongside his brothers Ray and Steve, who
preceded him in death, as did his beloved daughter, Lori Michelle
Robinson. His life was a testament to enduring love, as he shared 65
beautiful years with his wife, Glenda Franks. Together, they built a
life filled with joy, music, and an extended family of nieces, nephews,
and relatives who will fondly remember his generous spirit.
Professionally, Jerry dedicated many years to Owens Corning as an
Industrial Maintenance Technician, a role that showcased his remarkable
ability to fix and build with precision and care. His commitment to his
community shone brightly in his retirement when he became a familiar
face to many local children, driving a school bus for CISD for 12
years. Jerry's presence was a comforting constant on daily routes and
an enthusiastic supporter at countless field trips and sporting events.
Beyond his work, Jerry was a man of many passions. His cordial and
compassionate nature made him a beloved figure in his community. He was
generous to a fault, always willing to lend a hand or share his
expertise. His small farm was a source of pride and joy, a place where
he could put his handy skills to good use. Jerry was also an
accomplished guitar player, and together with Glenda on the mandolin,
they filled the air with the sweet sounds of bluegrass as part of a
band that brought happiness to many.
Jerry loved Glenda more than anything in the world, and their
partnership was a beautiful melody that resonated throughout their
lives. His legacy is one of love, kindness, and the ability to create
and fix anything he set his mind to. Those who knew Jerry will remember
him as a man who could always be counted on, a true friend, and a
loving family man.
As we bid farewell to Jerry Wayne Robinson, we celebrate a life
well-lived and a man well-loved. His memory will continue to inspire
and comfort all who were fortunate enough to know him. Jerry's life was
a beautiful song, composed of notes of love, service, and joy, and
though he has left us, his melody will echo in our hearts forever.
Jerry chose to be cremated. A memorial service will be planned at a
later date.

love, care, and vibrant memories. Born on June 28, 1952, in Corsicana,
Texas, Vicky grew into a spirited and kind-hearted young woman who
carried the warmth of her hometown throughout her life.
Vicky dedicated many years to the medical field as a Registered Nurse,

Vicky was known among family and friends for her independence, fiery
spirit, and zest for life. Her love for the Lord was profound, and it
informed her compassionate dealings with all those she met. Vicky's
love for adventure could be seen in her passion for water sports; she
relished the thrill of jet skiing, swimming, and gracefully gliding on
water skis. Her youthful spirit found joy in attending concerts,
creating memories that resonated through her stories and laughter.

Beverly Kay Prewitt Plauché met her Savior face-to-face and entered
into her eternal home with the Lord, whom she loved with her whole
heart on November 27, 2025. Her faith was not simply something she
spoke about - it radiated through every part of her life. Beverly had
an unshakable passion for sharing the countless miracles God performed
in her life and often reminded others that true faith is not just what
you know in your head, but what you hold dearly in your heart.
To know Beverly was to encounter someone who truly listened for the
Lord’s voice and encouraged everyone she met to do the same. If she
could speak to you now, she would lovingly remind you to search your
heart, seek your relationship with the Lord, and open your ears to what
He is trying to tell you. Her greatest desire was for others to
experience the same life-changing peace she found in Christ.

Linda Ann (Davis) Timmerman
Dec 6, 1946 - Nov 14, 2025
Linda Ann Davis Timmerman was born on December 6, 1946, to Neal and
Judy Davis. Neal and Judy taught Linda many things, the greatest of all
being faith. Neal taught her not to worry, and she lived her life in
faith that God had his hands on the plan. Whenever faced with an
obstacle, Linda turned to that faith and leaned on the Lord for her
strength. Linda, along with younger brothers Larry and Ronnie, were
raised on a dairy farm and with the music of faith at Wheatland United
Methodist Church in DeSoto, Texas. These experiences proved utterly
pitch-perfect when mutual friends introduced Linda to a talented
musician, David Timmerman, who was also raised on a dairy farm in
Upstate New York. Feeling right at home, it was on Linda’s family farm
that David received the blessing from Neal for Linda’s hand in
marriage. Eventually becoming Neal’s “damn Yankee son-in-law” on July
31, 1973.
Linda started her career at LTV Corp in Dallas. Soon after, she found
her passion for higher education administration through holding staff
roles at Dallas County Community College District, culminating as the
Executive Assistant to the Chancellor. A move to Corsicana in 1978 for
David’s job provided her the opportunity to continue her work at
Navarro College as Executive Assistant to the President, Dr. Kenneth
Walker. While working full time, she began to work her way through her
post-secondary education, earning her Associate, Bachelor, Master, and
Ed.D degrees. Doc T, as she was known to countless colleagues and
students over the years at Navarro College, served as the Academic Dean
for 12 years and retired in 2005 after serving as the Vice President of
Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the Navarro College
Foundation. She was also honored as a Distinguished Alumna of Navarro
College. She touched the lives of countless students. Linda had a
cornerstone belief that every person has a seat at The Table. She
became “mom” to so many and made a lasting impact that cannot be
adequately described.
A consummate communicator and leader, Linda went on to apply her vast
experience and talent in the medical field as the lead designer of the
three-year curriculum for Baylor’s Dermatology Residency Program and
played a key role in securing accreditation from the American Council
on Graduate Medical Education. She went on to volunteer as a Court
Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused or neglected children in
the court system, helping ensure that children had a voice when they
needed it, and she helped establish the Limestone Freestone County CASA
chapter. Linda and David have also been very active members of the
Texas Silver-Haired Legislature, advocating for issues affecting
Seniors in Texas. Her service to others knows no end.
David and Linda built a life together that most people can only dream
of. They raised three children and were blessed with five amazing
grandchildren while making a home in Navarro and Freestone counties.
They moved from Corsicana to Richland Chambers Lake in 2000, and made
Harmony Harbor their home for 25 years. Their Wilderness neighbors were
like family, and many memories with kids, grandkids and extended family
were made and cherished. Linda and David have lived a life together
filled with music, laughter, faith and love. When they moved from the
Wilderness back to Corsicana, they took a moment to share their wedding
cake one more time after 50+ years in the freezer. It didn't quite
taste the same, but it was definitely a moment to remember.
One of the joys of Linda’s life was to travel the world with David and
be a part of milestones for all of their grandchildren, having never
missed a high school or college graduation or an opportunity to attend
a sporting event or other important milestones. After a life well-lived
and four hard-fought battles with cancer, Linda won her final battle
and went with joy to her Lord and Savior on November 14, 2025. She was
at home with David and her grandchildren Alyssa and Will, and we know
that she was met in Heaven with a joyful reunion of those who preceded
her.
Left behind to cherish her memory and carry out her legacy of faithful
service to others are her husband of 52 years, David Timmerman,
daughter Vanessa Carr and son-in-law Dale, sons, David A. Timmerman and
Brad Timmerman and daughters-in-law, Chris and Terra. She also leaves a
legacy in her grandchildren, Alyssa and Ben Carr, Kyle and Jordan
Timmerman, and Will Timmerman. Linda and David have an "adopted"
Russian daughter and grandson, Marina and Nikita Kolganova. Her
brothers and sisters-in-laws Larry and Kennett Davis and Ronnie and
Shawn Davis, along with several nieces and nephews, are also cherishing
her memory along with an innumerable list of colleagues, former
students, and friends.
David and the family wish to express special gratitude to the choir and
congregation of St. John’s Episcopal Church for their support and
prayers, Tom Adams and Shellie O'Neal for their special friendship,
compassion and coordination of food and help, and to Father Matthew
Sparks for his comfort and guidance during this difficult time. Our
gratitude is also extended to Linda’s medical team for their expertise,
support and guidance through all of her battles with cancer.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Navarro
College, The Boys and Girls Club, your local CASA organization, Texas
Silver Hair Legislators, or St John’s Episcopal Church.

Jimmy's life was a testament to hard work, family values, and a love
for the simple pleasures of life.
Jimmy spent his career in commercial construction, where he was known
for his skillful hands and keen eye as a heavy machine operator, blade

A man of the land, Jimmy found solace and joy in the sprawling acres of
his ranch, tending to his cows with a gentle hand and a kind heart. His
love for the outdoors extended to his favorite pastimes of fishing and
hunting, where he found tranquility in the rhythms of nature. Many will
fondly remember the countless hours spent with Jimmy, playing dominoes
or simply sitting on the porch, soaking in the beauty of the world
around them.

particularly his ability to smoke the most succulent ribs and brisket.
His recipes and techniques, passed down with love and laughter, will
continue to be a source of comfort and celebration for his loved ones.
Above all, Jimmy's greatest pride and joy were his children, his
grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. He is survived by his son
Marvin Baldree and wife Colleen, son Jimmy Dale Lakey and wife Janet,
daughter Sharon Strahan and husband Sam, his twelve grandchildren, and
twenty-five great-grandchildren. Each of them carries a piece of
Jimmy's spirit, his wisdom, and his unwavering love.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Bessie (Dillard)
Lakey, the love of his life, his wife Glenda (Utz) Lakey of 43 years,
whom he loved and cherished in sickness and in health, especially
during her last years, his daughter Jeane Laird, and his eight
siblings. The legacy they built together remains a strong and loving
foundation for the family.
A long-time member of the Calvary Worship Center, Jimmy's faith was a
cornerstone of his life. His community there provided him with strength
and fellowship, and he cherished the moments shared with his church
family.
Jimmy Lakey's life was a rich tapestry woven with love, laughter, and
the deep bonds of family. As we bid farewell to this remarkable man, we
take solace in the knowledge that his memory will live on in the hearts
of those who knew him best. Jimmy's story is one of a life well-lived,

Billie Jewel (Jones) Hayes
Dec 3, 1925 - Feb 17, 2026
Billie
Jewel Hayes, lovingly known throughout her life as “Shug,” “Grandmaw,”
and to her great-grandchildren, “Grandmaw Shug,” passed away peacefully
on February 17, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100. She was a strong,
fiercely independent Christian woman whose love for her family was
unconditional and unwavering.
Born on December 3, 1925, in
Emhouse, Texas, to Clayburn and Willie Jones. Billie was the youngest
of five children — Floyd, Louise, Gracie, and Faye. Raised on a farm by
a hardworking sharecropper father, she grew up understanding
perseverance, discipline, and faith. She often shared stories of
picking cotton and the hardships of farm life, but those early
experiences shaped the steadfast values she carried throughout her
life: hard work, gratitude, frugality, and determination.
From
childhood on, Billie adored animals. Throughout her life, there was
always at least one cat and one dog in her home — they were simply part
of the family.
Billie graduated from Ennis High School and on
December 28, 1946, married the love of her life, Ralph Hayes. Together
they built a beautiful life and raised three children: Linda, Mike, and
Chris. Their marriage was filled with devotion, partnership, and
cherished traditions.
Though primarily a homemaker — a role she
embraced with pride — Billie also worked at Sears and Roebuck in the
catalog department and later as a cosmetician with Merle Norman
Cosmetics for sixteen years before retiring in 1991. She had a keen eye
for style and design, always keeping up with the latest trends.
Antiquing at flea markets and garage sales was a favorite pastime, and
finding a bargain brought her great satisfaction.
Home was her
sanctuary. She loved planting flowers, tending the yard, sewing,
quilting, painting, and canning vegetables from the garden. Fridays
were for cleaning the house, washing the car, and mowing the yard so
the weekend could be enjoyed freely. Multitasking was not something she
learned — it was simply who she was.
Billie loved classic films
such as Gone with the Wind, westerns like Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The
Big Valley, and later enjoyed Hallmark Channel favorites. Her musical
tastes spanned from The Andrews Sisters and Nat King Cole to John
Denver, Linda Ronstadt, and Willie Nelson.
Some of the sweetest
memories include weekend drives through the Texas countryside with
Ralph, windows down and cool breeze flowing, stopping in small towns
for a Dr Pepper and a collection of favorite snacks — chips, pork
rinds, fresh-cut cheese, peanuts, crackers, and cookies. Those simple
traditions became treasured family moments.
Her faith was a
cornerstone of her life. A devoted Baptist, Billie faithfully attended
church and lived out her beliefs daily. She especially loved
Thanksgiving and Christmas — not just for the decorations and food, but
for the joy of family gathered together. A playful competition between
Billie and Ralph over who made the best Thanksgiving dressing was
always part of the celebration.
When Ralph’s health declined,
Billie stepped into the role of caregiver with strength and grace —
becoming the driver, cook, and constant support. After his passing in
2016, she continued living independently through snowstorms, power
outages, and the COVID pandemic.
In 2020, during a roof
replacement, she was advised to stay inside for safety. Instead, she
visited with the workers and made sandwiches for them. The foreman sent
a message that read, “Your mom is so nice and she fixed the best
sandwiches for us while we were working.” That was Billie —
independent, warm, and always hospitable.
In 2021, at 95 years
old, she faced a serious medical decision. Given the option of hospice
or surgery, she firmly declared, “Well, I am not going out like this. I
want the surgery.” After a three-and-a-half-hour procedure, her doctor
marveled that she came through with the vitals of a 50-year-old. Her
strength and spirit amazed everyone. She even drove her Chevy Tahoe
until she was 92.
Billie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ralph Hayes.
She
is survived by her daughter, Linda Hughes; her sons, Mike Hayes and his
wife Penny, and Chris Hayes and his partner, Tom. She leaves behind
four grandchildren: Jack Hughes (Cami), John Hughes (Hollye), Somer
Hayes (Ryan), and Meagan Kamerbeek (Jason). Her legacy continues
through nine great-grandchildren: Alex Hughes, Wesey Hughes, Eli
Hughes, Miles Hayes, Sam Hayes, Ian Hughes, Will Kamerbeek, Merritt
Hayes, and Ellis Kamerbeek.
Billie Jewel Hayes lived a century
marked by resilience, independence, faith, and deep love. She
appreciated both the simple and finer things in life, balanced her
checkbook with precision, dressed with flair, and never lost her strong
will or gracious heart.
She will be remembered as a woman who
stood firm in her beliefs, loved her family fiercely, and lived life
fully — always on her own terms.
Her legacy lives on in every
flower planted, every quilt stitched, every family gathering, and every
drive through the Texas countryside with the windows down. |

Jeanne
Marie Maust
Jan 4, 1974 - Dec
21, 2025
The
world lost some of its sparkle on December 21, 2025, with the passing
of Jeanne Marie Maust. She was deeply loved by many. Jeanne had a
larger-than-life personality.
Jeanne Marie Maust was born January 4th, 1974, in Pasadena, TX, to
Penney Gibson.
Growing
up, Jeanne loved spending time with family; she had a special
relationship with her grandmother, whom she lovingly referred to as
"Mother." She also loved dancing, spending time with her pets, and had
a deep love of fashion that started with a red pair of boots.
As a
young adult, she spent a lot of time working in the family's dog
grooming shop, run by her mother and grandmother. After having her
three children, she decided she wanted a new career; she always felt
the calling to help those in need and became a nurse. While in nursing
school, she met a woman who would become her best friend in life,
Amanda McCants. She graduated LVN in December of 2003 and became an RN
in May 2006. She continued working as a nurse in home health,
eventually becoming a DON. She decided to go back to the hospital
system, becoming a charge nurse, an OA, and worked on several
committees before retiring in 2025. To follow her love of travel. She
started a new chapter in her life by becoming a travel agent in 2024
and moving to Corsicana, TX.
One of her greatest joys in life was
being a grandmother to her grandchildren. Celebrating life's little
moments and all of the milestones that came with it by throwing the
most lavish parties for the people she loved. When she wasn't throwing
parties, she was planning the next adventure with the people she loved
no matter how small the trip. Her fiery passion for life was reflected
in her dreams; she wasn't afraid to chase them.
Jeanne was preceded
in death by her grandmother, Norma Jean Tait "Mother"; Stepfather,
Robert Pierson "Skip"; and Aunt, Connie Ortiz.
She leaves behind her
husband, Michael Maust "Red"; daughters, Shelby Walker(Justin), Lauren
Bailey(Mason); son, Joseph Bailey "Joe"(Rachel); grandchildren, Joseph
Alton Bailey II, Riley Bailey, Henry Earl Bailey, Ezra Amerine, Sophie
Miller, Hunter Bailey; her mother, Penney Gibson; Aunt, Linda Thomas;
Uncle, Gibert Ortiz; best friend "life wife", Amanda McCants; and her
corgis, Dolly and Elvis. Jeanne also leaves behind numerous family
members, friends, and coworkers.
Jeanne was a courageous woman who
went through life fearlessly. Basic was never in Jeanne's vocabulary;
her unwavering vigor shone in everything she did. She was truly a
stunning woman on the inside and out. Words will never begin to
describe how wonderful a woman she was. Jeanne left a little bit of
sparkle in our hearts.

Dec. 16, 2025
Kimberly Gene
Terrell, born on January 27, 1965, peacefully passed away on December
16, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones. She was a remarkable individual
whose courageous spirit and
unwavering determination left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
Kim was born in Navarro County and spent her formative years attending
Mildred schools. She lived in Auburn, Illinois and various other places
during her youth. At the tender age of 18, Kim was diagnosed with liver
disease, a condition that would shape her life in profound ways.
Throughout her adult years, she faced various medical traumas related
to her illness and defied the odds time and time again, confounding
medical professionals with her resilience.
Despite the challenges she faced, Kim pursued a career in education and
taught elementary school while raising four remarkable children. Her
relentless drive to advocate for herself led to the diagnosis of a rare
genetic disease called Alpha 1, a feat that would later inspire her to
educate, speak, and support others grappling with similar conditions.
In addition to spending time with her family, Kim loved to travel, go
on cruises, and was a lifelong learner. In support of her military son,
she joined the Texas Army Moms and found a network of support and a
loving group of dear friends.
Kim met and married the love of her life, Tom Terrell, with whom she
actively served in various churches in Navarro County. Together, they
shared a deep commitment to their faith and community, embodying the
values of compassion and kindness to others.
For many years, Kim bravely awaited a new liver, demonstrating
remarkable patience and strength in the face of adversity. Sadly, she
eventually succumbed to liver failure at the age of 60. Despite her
physical departure, Kim's legacy of advocacy for Jesus, Alpha 1, and
organ donation will endure through the countless lives she touched.

children Evan, Elissa, and Elana Chu, daughter-in-law Hannah Chu, and
her parents, Max and Robbie Rash, brother Todd Rash and sister-in- law
Allison, sister Tara Ayers and husband Byron, along with numerous

Sandra Kay (Giovingo) Wolver
Feb 15, 1947 - Dec
8, 2025
Sandra
K. Wolver, 78, of Corsicana passed away on December 8, 2025, with her
family by her side. She was born February 15, 1947, in Rockford,
Illinois to Sam Giovingo and Dorothy Stores.
For more than 30
years, Sandy lived the beautiful and sometimes challenging life of a
pastor's wife. She carried that role with grace, humility, and a deep
love for people. Ministry wasn't something she did on Sundays - it was
the way she lived every day. Wherever she went, Sandy served. She
encouraged. She prayed. She taught. She listened. She showed Christ's
love in small, faithful ways that made a big difference.
Sandy
also worked at Walmart for 23 years, where she also would retire. But
even there, ministry never stopped. She turned her workplace into a
place of kindness and connection. Coworkers became friends, and
customers became people she cared for. She lived out her faith in the
aisles and break rooms just as much as she did in the church. Also, she
was awarded by the Governor of Iowa the congressional bravery award at
the age of 16 years old for saving her sister in a house fire.
More
than anything, Sandy loved her family. She cherished being a wife, a
mom, a daughter, a grandmother, and a sister. These roles brought her
some of her greatest joys. She poured herself into the people she loved
- celebrating their victories, praying through their struggles, and
showing up whenever she was needed.
Sandy leaves behind a legacy
of faithfulness - not flashy or loud, but steady, sincere, and strong.
A legacy of serving others, loving deeply, and pointing people to God
through the way she lived.
Though our hearts hurt today, we also
hold gratitude. Gratitude for her life, her love, her example, and the
way she blessed each of us. And we have the hope that the same Lord she
served with her whole heart is the One who now holds her in perfect
peace.
Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Dennis
Wolver, her parents, Dorothy & Sam Giovingo and brother Paul
Giovingo. She leaves behind her children, Jimmy Wolver and wife
Chelsea, Mike Wolver, Denny Wolver and wife Darlene and Sarah Love and
husband Jeffrey. She also leaves behind her grandchildren, Erica,
Dylan, Layton, Savana, Taylor, Jaden, Kaitlyn and Zack, great
grandchildren, Frankie, Charlie and Raiden.
Sandy will be dearly missed, but she will never be forgotten.
Her legacy for the Lord will live on thru her children and children's
children.

Mary Helen (Ellington) Hagler
Jul 30, 1938 - Jan 3, 2026
Mary Helen Hagler, lovingly known as "Nene" to her friends and family, departed this earth on January 3, 2026.
Helen
was born on July 30, 1938, in Troy, Texas, to Mary Elizabeth and James
Marshall Ellington. She grew up on a small farm in Troy, Texas, in the
middle of 6 siblings. She graduated from Troy High School and started a
job with Texas Power & Light in Temple, TX. She later married John
Hagler and began their journey of building a family.
She was a
devoted mother whose life was a testament of profound love and enduring
hope. She first knew heartbreak of carrying and delivering her beloved
daughter, Joyce Ann Hagler, who was born on June 28, 1964. Though her
time was brief, Joyce Ann made her a mother. Three years later her
heart expanded with joy as she was blessed with her son, John Todd
Hagler, who came to her through adoption.
With a couple of years
of being a mom she gave birth to her second daughter, Joni Beth, in
September of 1969. Her heart was full and her family was complete.
Lastly,
six years later she gave birth to her third child, Mandy Jo, in August
of 1975. She raised her children with pure love and unwavering
devotion, always making each of them feel very loved and supported.
She
became a NeNe to her first granddaughter, Ashley Nicole in 2000. She
officially retired in 2000 and flourished in being a grandmother. She
welcomed her second granddaughter, Emily Ann, in 2003 and her third
granddaughter, Ava Marie, in 2005. Seeing her be a grandmother to her
grandchildren was the greatest love of all. She cherished her role as
grandmother to Ashley Nicole, Emily Ann, and Ava Marie, offering them
love, guidance, and support. She enjoyed picking them up from school,
helping with homework, and making after-school snacks. She guided them
through life with unconditional love and comfort. NeNe always made each
of them feel as though they were her whole world whenever they were in
her presence.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James
Marshall and Mary Elizabeth Ellington, her beloved husband, John
Hagler, her siblings Bill Ellington, Jimmye Kelly, Margaret
Hildebrandt, Barbara Hilliard and daughter, Joyce Ann Hagler.
She
is survived by her children: Todd Hagler and wife Liza, Joni Price and
husband Scotty, and Mandy Capet and husband Chad; her grandchildren
Ashley Montelongo, Emily Montelongo, and Ava Capet; and her sisters,
Linda Hammer and Betty Vaughan.
Nene will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
The
family wishes to express their sincere gratitude for the many thoughts,
prayers, expressions of love, care, and kindness shown during this
time. Special thanks to Hand in Hand Hospice for the compassionate care
and attention provided to Mary Helen by their dedicated medical team of
nurses and doctors.
The family would also like to extend their
highest regard and appreciation to Shemaki Jackson, her devoted
caregiver for nine years, who consistently went above and beyond in
care, love, and support, as well as to Loretta Beechum, who lovingly
cared for her during the last few years of her life.
No services are scheduled per her request. Cremation is under the direction of Griffin-Roughton Funeral Home.
Celebration of Life will be held on January 17, 2026, at a separate location.
