Walter Russell Derden
Oct 11, 1934 - Oct 28, 2025
Walter Russell Derden, known affectionately to all as Russell, a
devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed
away peacefully on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, just weeks after
celebrating his 91st birthday.
Russell was born on October 11, 1934, in Jester, Texas, to Riley Mahan
Derden and Alice Mae (Turner) Derden. Growing up in Jester, Russell
learned the values of hard work and dedication early, helping his
mother and siblings survive by picking cotton as a child. This tireless
commitment to family defined his life. On April 4, 1959, he married the
love of his life, Shirley C. (Taylor) Derden, and together they built a
beautiful life and legacy spanning over six decades.
Russell proudly served his country with honor and distinction for over
two decades in the United States Air Force. He enlisted in January 1955
and retired from active service on January 31, 1975, at the rank of
Technical Sergeant (TSgt). His dedication included a tour during the
Vietnam War. During his 20-year career, Russell was recognized for his
commitment, earning numerous commendations, including the Air Force
Good Conduct Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters, the Air Force
Longevity Service Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters, the Republic of
Vietnam Campaign Medal, and at least two Air Force Commendation Medals.
Following his honorable military discharge, Russell immediately applied
his skills to a second long and productive career. He began working for
Stewart Motor Company, where he excelled as a mechanic and later as
Chief Mechanic for several years. He then transitioned to the United
States Postal Service (USPS), working out of the Ennis, Texas Regional
Postal Center. For more than 20 years, Russell was the essential
maintenance man for the center, responsible for the fleet of vehicles,
HVAC systems, and fixing "anything that broke or came up too short," a
testament to his resourcefulness. He retired from the USPS after more
than two decades of continued civilian service.
Russell was a devoted member of Lighthouse of Praise Church in Corsicana, TX.
Outside of his work, he was renowned for his ability to fix literally
anything-from cars to complex systems. He was a Master of Creative
Repairs, often relying on baling wire, WD-40, and duct tape to get a
broken item running again, always finding a solution where others saw
only scrap.
He was also a man who loved the outdoors. As a youth and young man, he
was known by the nickname "Shotgun" because of his exceptional
marksmanship. He was an absolute expert hunter and angler who could
reliably put food on the table, whether he was running trot lines to
catch "a mess of catfish" or hunting game. He proudly passed his
expertise and love for the outdoors on to his children, serving as an
irreplaceable mentor; few could ever outshoot him.
Above all, Russell loved his family. His greatest joy was being a
grandfather and great-grandfather, and his commitment to his large,
loving family was his defining characteristic.
Russell is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley C. (Taylor) Derden,
and his four children: Danny S. Derden, Walter Neal Derden, Judy L.
Gilliland, and Amy D. Learned. He was a cherished grandfather to 12
grandchildren (Amanda, Daniel, Timothy, Joshua, Nicole, John, Jamie,
Casey, Brittney, Courtney, Zachary, and Jacob) and a proud
great-grandfather to 31 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his loving sister and brother: Vera (Billie) Morrison and Johnnie M. Derden.
Russell is preceded in death by his parents, Riley Mahan Derden and
Alice Mae (Turner) Derden, and four siblings: Earnest Derden, Spruce
Derden, Iris (Hootie) Owens, and Bonnie Follis.

Emanuel Wilson, Jr.
Sep 18, 1950 - Oct 23, 2025
Emanuel
Wilson, Jr. was born on September 18, 1950, in Timothy, Texas to the
late Emanuel Wilson, Sr. and Lura Dell Kelly Wilson. Emanuel departed
this life on October 23, 2025. He received his formal education in the
Corsicana Independent School District and proudly graduated with the GW Jackson High School Class of 1969.
Following his graduation, he pursued and attained certifications in
various trades and in the field of drafting. During his high school
years, Emanuel met the love of his life, his
sweetheart and best
friend, Mary Joyce King. Their love blossomed into a lifelong union,
and they were married for 55 years. To this union two daughters were
born, whom he loved deeply: Shonna L. Franklin and Grashia L. Scott.
Emanuel was a man of
extraordinary skill and ability - truly a jack of all trades. He could
repair, build, restore, and figure out just about anything. He was
employed by Big Brown Power Plant, Wolf Brand Chili, and Roadway
Trucking before stepping out on faith to establish his own company,
Wilson Trucking. Starting with just three dump trucks, he worked
tirelessly to provide for his family and build a legacy of strength,
integrity, and independence. Emanuel was a devoted and faithful member
of Second Mission Baptist Church, where he served diligently as a choir
member, Deacon and Trustee. One of his greatest accomplishments was
serving as General Contractor during the construction of the current
church edifice - a true testament to his craftsmanship, leadership, and
love for God's house. His favorite hymn was "Guide Me, O Thou Great
Jehovah", and his favorite scripture was Psalm 24, which he boldly
recited with conviction. He believed in the power of prayer and made
sure he prayed for his family, friends, and community.
Emanuel poured
deeply into his community. He provided a safe and welcoming space for
youth to gather, grow, and enjoy themselves. Through his TEEN Club,
Game Room, summer volleyball courts, snow cone stand, and "Kind's
Place," he became a pillar in the neighborhood. His famous "Crank It
Up" contests drew young people from Corsicana and surrounding cities -
building connection, joy, and lifelong memories. He never met a
stranger. Everyone was family. He cherished his two grandchildren, W.
Cameron Franklin and Kristlyn M. Landfair, and he had a special love
and respect for his devoted sons-in-love, William Earl Franklin and
Timothy Earl Scott. Emanuel was preceded in death by his parents
Emanuel Wilson, Sr. and Lura Dell Kelly Wilson and siblings: Estella
Albert (George), Nellie Robinson (Billy), Larry Wilson (Ruthie), and
Patricia Wilson. He leaves to forever cherish his legacy: his loving
wife, Mary Joyce King Wilson; daughters Shonna Franklin (William) and
Grashia Scott (Timothy); grandchildren Cameron Franklin and Kristlyn
Landfair; siblings Alma Robinson (Leon), Harold Wilson (Glory), Walter
Wilson (Lula), Sharron Ballard (Kenny), Darron Wilson, Clay Wilson
(Lamesa), and Renita Hollie (Don); Special Friends, Gary Montgomery,
Wayne Hawthorne, Thomas Douglas, Jarrine Wilborn and a host of nieces,
nephews, extended family, church family, and friends.

Daisy (Howren) Brockway
Apr 30, 1875 - Aug 29, 1965
MOTHER TO HUNDREDS
Daisy Brockway Succumbs At 90
Mrs. Daisy Brockway, known as "mother" to hundreds of naturalized
citizens of the United States, died last night at Elness Nursing Home
after an illness lasting more than a year.
Mrs. Brockway, 90, had entered the nursing home a year ago last May
after residing in her West Monte Vista Roadhouse since she moved to
Turlock in 1911. On April 30, close friends, including Miss Helen
Hohenthal, Mrs. Arthur Crowell and Mrs. Louis Santos, gathered at the
home to celebrate what turned out to be the last birthday of the
retired Turlock High School teacher.
She was instrumental in establishing, at THS, English classes for the
foreign-born. She tutored those immigrants who sought U.S. citizenship,
and developed a list of questions and answers they must memorize to
secure naturalization, based on the U.S. Constitution.
Personal Intrest
Her Ameridcanization classes were taught evenings at the high school,
and she took a personal interest in each of the students, shepherding
them through the court procedure which gave them U.S. citizen rights.
Usually, when a big class "graduated," she would, together with the
American Legion, provide a ceremony with a prominent local speaker to
welcome the immigrants into their newly adopted citizenship.
She taught at THS for 28 years, retiring in 1950. Even after her
retirement, she continued to assist and teach in the Americanization
classes, and when at last her failing health confined her to a wheel
chair, her students would come to her, for counseling and guidance.
Native of Texas
Born in Corsicana, Texas, she was married to Harry Brockway in Arizona
in 1910. Her husband preceded her in death in 1930, ad did a daughter,
Allene Dahlberg, in 1941. She was a member of the Methodist Church and
the Retired Teachers Assn.
Survivors include one son, Paul H. Brockway, Santa Ana, a niece, Mrs.
Robert Fowler, wife of a Stanislaus Superior Court judge; two sisters,
Mrs. Bess Anderson of Los Angeles and Mrs. W. G. Word of Texas; a

Lucy Charles (Ogburn) Russell
May 27, 1840 - Sep 1921
ANOTHER PIONEER PASSES
Many Mourning Friends Pay Last Respects to Mrs. Lucy Russell at Funeral Services at Woodland Sunday
Notwithstanding the fact that it was generally known here that Mrs.
Lucy Ogburn Russell, mother of Supervisor W. O. Russell, was in a
weakened condition as a result of advanced years, the news of her death
Friday came as a shock to the host of friends in this section of the
State. The news came too late for last week's Enterprise.
Services were held Sunday from the Methodist Church at Woodland at 2
o'clock and were largely attended. Rev. G. G. Berger officiated
as pastor and the additional services were under the auspices of the
Eastern Star, of which she was a log time member.
She was one of those splendid types of the early settelers who endured
the hardships unavoidable and established a prosperous and happy home
over which she queened as wife and mother. Too much credit can
not be given her.
In his sermon Mr. Berger paid a high tribute to the character of the
departed, the main features of the address being given below.
Mrs. Lucy Ogburn Russell was born in Corsicana, Texas, May 27, 1840,
and passed to her eternal home last Friday Morning at ten o'clock in
the city of Alameda.
Very early in life, just entering her teens, she with her parents made
the great adventure to the Pacific coast. Her father, Dr. J. C. Ogburn,
responding to the inner urge to go west in 1854 with his family crossed
the plains and arrived in Los Angeles. Spending a year there they moved
north, and finally in 1858 settled in Yolo county. Here Mrs.
Russell has continuously resided, save the past few years, which were
spent for the most part in Alameda.
Her husband, Francis E. Russell, to whom she was married on September
25, 1856, and likewise one of the pioneers of the State, passed away in
1907. There are four children born to this union who are still
living. Mrs. Enos and Mrs. Mary Love, both of Sacramento; Frank
E. Russell of Alameda, and William O. Rusell of Davis.
We of the younger generation can form no adequate appreciation or
understanding of pioneer life in California 50 or 60 years ago.
Migrating before any means of transportation were available, save the
ox or horse team, treading their weary way day in and day out, over
mountains, valleys and plains, at last to arrive in a new
country; No houses already completed to greet them, deprived of a
hundred accepted conveniences of today, these early pioneers struggled
on, and and at last bequeathed a rich heritage to us all. Aboe
all they were bereft of all early associations, of loved ones and
friends, and the old familiar scenes. This was indeed the
experience of Mrs. Russell. At the tender age of 14 she entered a
new world. Never again to see the sun rise over the dar old hills, the
green pastures; never again to hear the songs of the native birds; gone
all the glorious enviroment of her early days. Now a new world a
world filled with romance and adventure; yes, but a world of hardshi
and privation. For over 60 years Mrs. Russell loved and toiled in this
new country, to see it grow from a wild and rugged region to it place
among the great commonwealths of our republic.
Among the early pioneers who settled this western country were man and
women of every walk and station in life; the good, the bad, and the
indifferent. There were men and women of God who carried with them the
faith of the cross. To these California owes her greatest debt of
gratitude. Too many of the early - to many of the later - arrivals in
our State left God behind. This has been California's loss and their
shame. Not so with Mrs. Russell. Early in life she linked herself with
the church of Christ and grave it her allegiance. Thank God for
the God-fearing men and women of the early days who stood for those
great and imperishable principles of the truth, righteousness and
religion. We are here to bless the memory of one of God's noblewomen
who believed and lived the Christian life.
The days of our earthly pilgrimage are three-score years and ten, but
if by reason of strength theyt be four-score. When youth is cut short
by death, there seems an unexplained mystery, but with the sunset and
evening star, death comes as a relief and a release. Thus we can
say with Bryant:
"And we are glad that she has lived thus long,
And glad that she has gone to her reward;
Nor can we deem that Nature did her wrong.
Softly to disengage the vital cord. For when her hand grew palsied, and her eye
Dark with the mists of age, it was her time to die.
And now we look beyond. Paul once wrote "We Know," did not say, "we
thik," or "we hope," but we know that if the earthly house of our
tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building from God - a house not made
with hands-eternal in the heavens. There were many things that spostle
did not know about the other world-a thousand unanswered questions; but
he knew one thing- and hiis knowledge came from a rich and deep
experience. Men who look down and not up; men whose vision is
distorted; men whose vision is dostorted; men whose interests center on
the passing and the transient; men who have little concern about the
higher things of life, do not possess this knowledge. But the great
souls of all ages have believed and lived the immortal life. This was
the abiding and the transient men who thus she could say:
"With Thee, my Lord, with Thee, I do not fear
To cross the threshold of the mystic door;
I shall not falter if I find Thee near.
For Thou has paced the portica before.
Let me but feel Thy hand, Thy features see,
I shall emerge in happiness with Thee.
O blessed memory of this woman of God; a faithful wife for more than
fifty years; a devoted mother, queen of her home, a friend indeed to a
friend in need. From such a life we can gain increased devotion to all
that is best and truest in this world; Our loss is her gain.
Heaven is richer, though earth be poorer. Farewell for a few days and
then we, too, shall make the great adventure. May we make ready for
that wondrous hour when we shall meet again those whom we have loved
long since and lost a while; put our house in order to meet our eternal
Father, as was this sainted mother, who a few days ago was not, for God
had taken her.

Paula Joan (Moore) Triplett
November 11, 1932 - May 23, 2021
FORT WORTH- Paula Joan Triplett passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 23, 2021, in Fort Worth.
Joan was born in Frost, Texas to B.L. and Pauline (McDaniel) Moore. She
was raised in Irene, Texas, where she enjoyed the simple country life
for 24 years. Her family went to lots of shows, visited family, and
traveled. In Irene, the mail would arrive by train two times a day:in
the morning on a southbound train, and in the afternoon on a northbound
train. As Joan grew up, she would walk to town to get the mail. During
her Senior year of high school, she was elected Carnival Queen, at
Bynum High School (BHS).She played basketball and even scored in a game
one time! After graduation from BHS, she attended Navarro Junior
College (NJC) in Corsicana, by riding a NJC bus from Mertens. She
always sat behind the driver, since she was prone to motion sickness.
The following year, she stepped on the bus and took her seat behind the
new bus driver; little did she know her future husband, Allen, was the
new bus driver. Their first date was October 31, 1952.
Joan always hand-wrote letters to her friends and family. When Allen
finished his degree at NJC and transferred to Sam Houston State
University (SHSU), she would write him daily. One summer, Allen bought
a dump truck and delivered the rock to pave a new road from Bynum to
Irene, this would make his drive smoother to visit Joan on their dates
in the summer. After Allen graduated from SHSU and had a job offer, he
sold the dump truck, bought a ring with the money, and asked Joan to
marry him. They married at her parent's home in Irene, in 1956. They
rented an apartment in Hillsboro for their first home. When Allen
served in the National Guard, she moved home and stayed with her
parents. Following his service, they resided in Kerrville, Dumas,
Hillsboro, and eventually settled in Fort Worth. During their times of
relocation to areas without family, they were both Christians and
became more active in the Baptist church. Joan was a wonderful
housewife and mother to two children. In 1969 and after a year of
searching, Joan and Allen decided to join Wedgwood Baptist Church
(WBC).Over the years, she was a active member at WBC: Sunday School
(Ann Thornton class), Kitchen director for one year, and Senior Adult
Choir member. In addition, Joan volunteered for over 30 years to
represent WBC at Wedgwood Nursing Home every Wednesday morning, by
playing the piano for a weekly devotional/singing service. Along with
her love of sewing, she became crafty. She would either sew items or
make things for others in her Sunday School class. She would make
decorations for the holiday parties. Also, Joan would volunteer to
drive the WBC youth to various locations (Tarrant Baptist Encampment,
Six Flags, bowling, skating, go-karting, etc.).
Joan and Allen bought a camper and traveled in the summers, so Allen
could either attend an NEA convention or workshops. As a result, they
were able to take extended vacations with their children, showing them
49 of the 50 states. Joan loved to sew, so she would make matching
outfits for herself and her daughter to wear, for their summer
vacations. Joan never complained while being away on trips. She would go
sit and continue handwriting letters to her family and friends. Joan
was sweet and generous to everyone she met. She added more friends to
her address book, from her vacations, and sent them letters and
Christmas cards.
Joan took a few classes at Tarrant County Junior College (now Tarrant
County College). She took Cake Decorating and Women in Life Long
Learning (WLLL).During the Cake Decorating class, she made nine
different cakes and her family enjoyed each one of them. While enrolled
in the WLLL class, the women would discuss various issues and visit
sites in Fort Worth.
After her children married, she treated her daughter/son-in-law as her own children.
Joan is a member of the "First Families of Hill County."
Joan and Allen both lived by Allen's belief, "You live on what you earn. You make a difference with what you share."
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, B.L. and Pauline Moore; and in October she lost her husband of 64 years, Allen.
Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Ann Triplett of
Colleyville; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Vic Ramirez of
Grapevine; two precious granddaughters, Maura Triplett and Mineko
Ramirez; brother and sister-in-law, Byron and Kay Moore; many cousins -
especially Julianna Belyea (Thank you!), many WBC Sunday School/church
members, and friends.
Memorials: Wedgwood Baptist Church or a charity of your choice.

Allen Dean Woods
Dec 6, 1963 - Nov 16, 2025
Allen Dean Woods,
aged 61, of Corsicana, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 16,
2025, in the same town where he first saw the light of day on December
6, 1963. A man of humor and heart, Allen's presence was a source of joy
and laughter to all who knew him.
Allen's life was one of love and dedication, most notably to his
family. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Tracy Foster, who was his
partner in every sense of the word. His father, Gerald Woods, will miss
the deep conversations and the silent understanding that only a father
and son can share. Allen's legacy continues through his children, Wyatt
Hildebrand and his wife Chelby, and Maggie Coulston and her husband
Zach, who will carry forward his spirit of kindness and mischief. His
grandchildren, Astrid Owen and Zora Coulston, were the apples of his
eye, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Allen also leaves
behind his cousin, Ann Pettyjohn, who shared many of life's adventures
with him. His furry companion, Sugar Rhea Woods, will surely miss his
gentle pats and playful banter.
Allen was preceded in death by his mother, Janice (May) Woods, and his
sister, Darla Woods, both of whom he spoke of often and fondly, keeping
their memories alive in his stories.
A connoisseur of the finer things in life, Allen had an unmatched
appreciation for Ozzy Osborne's music, often seen wearing band
memorabilia and attending concerts whenever possible. His passion for
professional wrestling was more than a hobby; it was a part of his
identity, and he could debate the merits of wrestlers with the fervor
of a true fan. Allen's love for snuff was well-known, and he prided
himself on always having the best selection at hand.
Allen's sense of humor was legendary. He was a jokester through and
through, both in telling jokes and pulling pranks on others. His
laughter was infectious, and his ability to find humor in the everyday
was a gift he generously shared. His presence on social media,
especially Facebook, was unmistakable, as he often found himself in
'Facebook Jail' for his outspoken and humorous posts.
Beyond his interests, Allen was a man of great love and acceptance. He
treated his step-children as his own, embracing them with open arms and
an open heart. His long-time online rock radio show was a testament to
his love for music and his desire to connect with others, sharing his
favorite tunes and engaging with listeners from all walks of life.
Allen Dean Woods lived a life that was full, vibrant, and meaningful.
His absence leaves a void in the hearts of those who loved him, but his
spirit will continue to inspire laughter, love, and the courage to be
unapologetically oneself. As we say goodbye to Allen, we celebrate a
life well-lived and a man well-loved.
A Celebration of Allen’s Life will is scheduled for Friday, November 21, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Corley Funeral Home Chapel.

Notes:
Charley Bob Parker
Jul 15, 1934 - Feb 28, 2025
Charley
Bob Parker lived a life filled with curiosity, adventure and love. Born
in Dawson, Texas, to Ora Bell "Jack" Parker (Grubbs) and Floyd Pierce
Parker, he carried with him the values of hard work, quiet
determination, and an enduring appreciation for the people and
experiences that shaped him. He passed peacefully, leaving behind a
legacy of exploration, intellect, and unwavering devotion to his family.
Charley married the
love of his life, Peggy Jordan, on May 30, 1959, and together they
built a life of love, laughter, and devoted companionship. Their
partnership spanned more than six decades, with Peggy remaining his
devoted companion and the keeper of their shared memories. He was
a loving father to two daughters, Jan (Castle Pines, CO) and Suzanne
(Pearland, TX) and an adoring grand-father to Benjamin (18), who was
the light of his life. He also welcomed Jan's partner, Michelle, as
part of the family, embracing the love and happiness she brought into
their lives.
A proud graduate of
Lamar University, Charley begain his career as an electrical engineer,
starting with Western Electric before following his true calling to
NASA. Inspired by President John F. Kennedy's famous call to
reach the moon, Charley became part of history. As a Flight Control
Engineer, he worked in "The Trench" - the front row of consoles in
Mission Control where flight controllers managed critical operations
during manned spaceflight.
Charley, joined NASA
During the Mercury program, gaining invaluable experience in the early
days of human spaceflight. He went on to work through Project Gemini,
where he helped lay the groundwork for the Apollo missions. During
Apollo, he played a direct role in several missions, including serving
as Head of Guidance for Apollo 8, the first crewed mission to orbit the
moot. Later while working full-time, he took night classes to
learn computer programming, ultimately authoring software that
controlled the space shuttle's payload drops.
Fittingly, on the
day of his passing, seven planets aligned in the sky. It seems only
right that Heaven made room for him to have a front-row seat for the
event.
While working at
NASA and later in retirement, Charley put his engineering skills to
good use by volunteering in the sound booth at Park Place Baptist
Church. For more than 20 years, he ran the audio for services,
weddings, baptisms, and funerals, ensuring everything sounded just
right. He specially enjoyed working with young men, teaching them
the ins and outs of sound production and passing on his knowledge with
care.
Charley loved his
work and often said he felt lucky to have it - the engineering
challenges were endlessly fulfilling, and he had great respect for the
entire team of engineers, scientists, and colleagues who made space
exploration possible. He took immense pride in working alongside of
some of the brightest minds of the generation, and his expertise left a
lasting impact. One fellow engineer wrote that he learned more about
flight control from Charley that he learned anywhere else - a testament
of Charley's skill, patience, and ability to teach otheers in the
high-stakes world of Mission Control.
Though Charley often
kept his thoughts to himself, there was one place where he would open
up - his back patio, sitting next to Peggy. There, with a cold beer in
hand, he would tell stories from his childhood, from NASA, and from a
well-lived life. In retirement he spent countless hours on that
patio, overlooking the 9th tee box, watching birds, and quietly
enjoying the parade of golfers who shanked their shots from the pro
tees. He collected the stray golf balls that found their way into
his yeard and, on occasin, would offer a few to the sheepish golfer
brave enough to venture into their yard and retrieve their wayward shot.
Charley was a
lifelong football fan. For years, he was an Oiler fan, which meant one
thing - you did not root for the Cowboys. So when the Oilers packed up
and left for Tennessee, he was a man withhout a team. But when Houston
welcomed in the Texans franchise, he finally had an NFL team to call
his own again. Besides watching the Texans on Sunday, every
Saturday in the fall Charley could be found watching the Texas
Longhorns on the gridiron, and whether it was a big game or just
another Saturday, he never missed a chance to "get his Horns up."
Charley didn't ned
the spotlight. He preferred to listen, to observe, and to share his
wisdom when it was neeeded most. His presence was steady, his
love enduring, and his legacy immeasurable. He reached for the moon,
but his true home was here on Earth, surrounded by the people he loved.
A private
celebration of Charley's life will be held at a later date, where
friends and family will gather to share stories, laughter, and memories
of an extraordinary man.

Reba Nell (Daniel) Ferrell
Oct 2, 1938 - Nov 3, 2025
After
a valiant two-decade battle against Parkinson's disease, Reba Daniel
Ferrell's spirit rose to heaven from her home in Plano, TX on November
3, 2025. Reba was born in Vivian, LA., the eldest daughter of Walter
Leland Daniel and Dorthy Anderson Daniel. Her family relocated to the
farming community of Blooming Grove, TX, where Reba completed her
primary and secondary education. She graduated in 1957 as
Valedictorian. During her student years at Blooming Grove, she was an
outstanding athlete, named Most Representative, served as a class
officer, was President of the Future Homemakers of America, and editor
of the high school yearbook. In 2007, Reba was recognized as an
outstanding alumnus of Blooming Grove High School.
Reba attended Navarro College before her employment at the Federal
General Accounting office in Dallas, TX, where she was formally
recognized as an exceptionally meritorious employee. Following her
marriage on June 4, 1960 to her high school sweetheart and love of her
life, Ralph Tillman Ferrell, Reba relocated to Austin, TX, where she
continued her employment as a federal government employee to provide
financial support while Ralph completed his doctoral studies in
Chemical Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin.
Her only child, daughter Lisa Ferrell Bacic, was born in Austin, TX on
February 2, 1964. At the age of 44, after supporting Ralph's career and
rearing Lisa to a young adult, Reba completed her Bachelor of Science
in Business Administration at McNeese University where she was
recognized as the scholastic high honor graduate.
Reba faced Parkinson's with strength and dignity, her laughter and
compassion remaining constant throughout. Before Parkinson's slowed her
physical body, Reba loved playing tennis, water skiing, reading, and
using her skills as an accomplished seamstress. Her greatest joy,
however, was spending time with her family, especially her
grandchildren. Nothing brought Reba greater joy than supporting her
grandchildren - she never missed a soccer game, dance recital, or
celebration, always their most devoted and enthusiastic supporter. She
took immense pride in each of their accomplishments and found great
happiness in watching them grow into remarkable individuals.
Reba's life was richly defined by her love of family and by her
enduring passions for travel and philanthropy. She marveled at Earth's
vast landscapes, loved to view wildlife in its native habitat, and was
fascinated by the diverse cultural environment of countries and peoples
around the world. During her travels, Reba visited all 50 of the United
States and more than 120 countries on all seven continents. Although
she fervently supported medical science and child abuse prevention, her
primary philanthropic efforts were directed towards advancing
education. Included in these actions were endowed scholarships at The
University of Texas at Austin and, for many decades, annually awarded
scholarships to graduates of Blooming Grove High School.
Reba was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Dorthy Daniel;
her infant elder brother, Walter Leland Jr.; and her sister, Belva Jean
Clark, and husband, Jack. She is survived by her husband of 65 years,
Ralph Tillman Ferrell; her daughter, Lisa, and son-in-law, Chris Bacic;
her grandson, Daniel Bacic and fiance Shireen Toubbeh; her
granddaughter, Kelsey, and husband, Garrett Lucero; and sister, Johnnie
Mae Daniel.
Reba's unwavering love and boundless care were at the heart of her
family. Her legacy of compassion endures in all who were blessed to
know her, and we take comfort in knowing she is finally at peace after
her long and graceful battle.
A Celebration of Life will occur at her home, 5713 Arcady Place, Plano,
TX 75093, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday, January 11, 2026. A memorial
service and reception will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 PM on Sunday,
January 25, 2026, at Dresden Methodist Church, 13672 FM 744, Barry,
TX,75102 where Reba first met Ralph about 80 years ago.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate support of her favorite
philanthropy: The Ruth Edmundson Ramsey Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 54,
Blooming Grove, TX 76626.

Mar 10, 1933 - Jun 19, 2024
Ruel Lynn Dixon, 91, of Granbury, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 19th, 2024 in Granbury, Texas.
A proud fourth-generation Texan, Ruel lived a full and happy life among
family and many friends during his 91 years. Born in Emhouse, TX in

two years in Army intelligence, based in Austria and Germany. After
fulfilling his duty to the Army, upon Honorable Discharge, he returned
to Texas to briefly attend Baylor University before transferring to
Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. It was in Lubbock where he met
Rebecca Anne Rinehart, and they were married in 1959. They had two sons
(Ruel Lynn Dixon, Jr. and Michael Henry Dixon) and set about on their
path to raise a family and pursue careers. Ruel was a natural salesman,
and started in the fertilizer industry. After a few years in Tulia, TX

Watson). On October 12, 1991 Patsy married the love of her life William
David (Bill) Bozek and they made their home in Bardwell before moving
to Scurry in 1997. Shortly after Bill's death, she moved back to Ennis
in 2009 to be closer to her children.
Patsy loved to travel with her family and friends. She loved going to
the mountains to see and play in the snow. Snowmobiling was a favorite
activity, along with feeding and watching the wildlife, especially the
deer. She loved spending time with her family. Galveston was a favorite
vacation spot for many years, making lifetime memories.
An avid gardener and a lover of plants & flowers, Pat was known for
her perfectly manicured yard. She loved being outside and spent much of
her free time under her covered patio. She always had a glass of cold
iced tea and something sweet for family & friends to enjoy.
Patsy retired from MBNA in Dallas as an Executive Administrator &
Community Affairs Assistant. She loved her job and was passionate about
her work as it gave her the ability to serve others and make lots of
acquaintances. Patsy was an exemplary employee for over 20 years. Prior
to her working in Dallas, Patsy worked for the US Postal Service in
Ennis as a rural mail carrier for a number of years. She also worked at
Ennis Business Forms in the old offices on NE Main Street for many
years.
Patsy loved her Lord & Savior and was a faithful member of
Fundamental Baptist Church of Palmer, Texas until she was unable to
attend services due to her failing health. She would then watch online
from the comfort of her home. She loved serving in the VBS ministry in
the summers and could always be found helping in the church kitchen
when preparing and serving meals. She truly had a servant’s heart.
Patsy (mostly known as Momma Pat, Nanny, Nanna and Sis) was a loving
Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend. She will be

feel like family.
