Robert
Pinckard "Bob/Dic" Kennedy, Jr.
Oct 19, 1928 - Sep 25, 2025
Corsicana -
Robert P. Kennedy, Jr., 96, of Kerens, Texas went
peacefully home with Jesus on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at his home
while with his wife, Annette Kennedy. He finally received what he
referred to as his "promotion". Robert, known by his friends as "Doc"
and "Bob" ", and by his family as "Papa" and "Grandpa" was born on
October 19, 1928 in Beaumont, Texas to Robert P. Kennedy and Lela Mae
Johnson Kennedy.
Bob was a veteran of the United States Army. He received an Honorable
Discharge from the Army where he was classified as a M-1 30 caliber
expert. He was a current member of The National Society of The Sons of
The American Revolution.
At 17, Bob enrolled in Lamar University as his father wanted him to be
an engineer. After completing one semester, he determined that the
route of becoming an engineer was not the route he wanted to go down.
Bob's father, Robert P. Kennedy, Sr., was working at Magnolia refinery
in Beaumont at that time, where he worked for over 55 years. He
introduced Bob to a friend of his who was in charge of a tanker
company, Esso, that shipped product for Magnolia. Shortly thereafter,
at the age of 18, in order to ship out with Esso, Bob joined the
Merchant Marines as an OS (ordinary Seaman) and began many
journeys across the oceans and seas of the world to many countries. Bob
shared some of his very interesting and exciting Merchant Marine
stories with his friends and family. Some are not unlike what you may
find in a thriller novel.
After a few journeys across the globe, Bob joined the United States
Army at age 19 with his good friend Pete Brandhorst. They went to
basic
training together at Fort Chaffe, Arkansas. Bob was sent to a base in
Wyoming and his buddy was sent to New York. He was honorably discharged
from the Army in 1955 after his Army and Army Reserves Service.
Bob enrolled in North Texas State University where he obtained a
bachelor's degree in Business Administration. He worked his way up in
the insurance industry as a regional sales manager for Commercial
Standard Insurance. After a few short years, he was offered a generous
promotion that would involve a move to New York City. He chose to
remain in Texas and he took the advice of a respected dentist friend to
go to dental school and become a dentist. He did so and graduated from
Baylor College of Dentistry and began a successful career as a dentist
in Clear Lake City in the suburbs of Houston. Bob also, with the
skilled assistance of his good friend Bobby Hill, opened and operated a
successful dental laboratory known as K-Key Mining Company. He was
loved by his patients, many of whom declared him to be "The Painless
Dentist." He was steady and precise as a dentist just as he was in his
everyday life.
Bob retired on his beloved ranch, The Kennedy Key, in Navarro County
with wife Annette where he had become a cattle rancher with the help of
his good friend, Danny Combs. Bob was an all around good man who was
loved by many, and who loved the Lord, his family, his country, his
friends, and his church, First Baptist Church of Kerens.
In addition to his parents, Bob is predeceased by his older sister,
Bettie Marie La Verge, and a baby boy, Edwin, who died shortly after
birth in 1956. Bob is survived by his wife Annette Kennedy, daughter
Karen Kennedy, son Robert D. Kennedy, and four grandchildren Korri
Foster, Jay Kennedy, Kara Kennedy, and Klare Kennedy. He is also
survived by his only great grandchild, Jack Thomas Kennedy, son of Jay
and his wife Sabrina Kennedy.
At Bob's request, in lieu of a memorial service, he asked that you all
cherish your time with your loved ones around great meals. In his honor
any memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Kerens and The
Kerens Veterans' Memorial.

Elizabeth Ann (Ballew) Singleton
Oct 21, 1950 - Sep 26, 2024
Elizabeth
Ann Ballew Singleton was reunited with the love of her life, Johnny
Singleton and her Lord Jesus on Thursday, September 26, 2024, in
Brownwood. Liz was born on October 21, 1950, in Frost, Texas to Robert
and Edna Ballew, and completed their family as baby number three. She
married Johnny Singleton on May 29, 1971, in Frost. They were blessed
with Johnna D’Lynn, Beth Ann and Melissa Kay and Liz was blessed to be
able to stay home and raise her girls. She loved being a mother, a
preacher and teacher spouse and supported Johnny anywhere they were.
After her girls graduated Liz took time for herself and went back to
school and got her nursing degree in 2000 and loved taking care of
geriatrics but found her purpose as a school nurse. It was during this
time that she found her greatest passion as title of GMomma to
Benjamin, Bethany, and Bree and MoMo to Caden. This quickly became her
name to all the children who knew her. Johnny and Liz spent forty-eight
wonderful years together until his passing on August 25, 2019 and then
Liz retired from nursing. She then filled her days being able to care
for Royce and Lillie Lawrence along with Brooklyn Greenfield, being
able to do this was the light in Liz’s life since her grandchildren
were grown. Shortly after Johnny’s passing Liz lost her best friend,
older sister Leah Ballew Greenup which left a huge hole in her heart.
heartland-funeral-home-article-ad-2021
Left to cherish Liz’s sweet memory are Johnna, Ben, Bethany, and Bree
Boucher of Rising Star; Beth and Troy Wilson and Caden Pate of Tolar,
Melissa and Tim Trigg of Rising Star. Her brother Robert Ballew and
wife Velma of Frost, brother-in-law Wayne Greenup of Canyon,
brother-in-law Robert Singleton and wife Martha of Mildred,
brother-in-law Nelson Galloway and wife Wanda, and her “other daughter”
Liz Phillips and spouse Bobby, along with a host of nieces, nephews,
and extended family that she loved deeply. Liz treated everyone she met
with a mother’s heart. She was a great cook, and even better prayer
warrior and will be sorely missed.
Liz made it clear that she didn’t want a big deal made about her, only
to be at rest by Johnny. There will be a visitation on Saturday
9/28/2024 6-8pm at Heartland Funeral Home followed by a graveside on
Sunday, September 29, 2024, 2:00pm at Providence Cemetery in
Navarro County.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that you show a caring heart
like Gmomma would and leave people better than you found them.
Condolences, memories, and tributes can be offered to the Singleton

Richard "Rick" Thompson
Dec 3, 1933 - Apr 9, 2025
Rock
Thompson, beloved husband and father, passed away April 9, 2025, at
Hewitt Rehabilitation and Wellness Center in Hewitt, TX after a brief
illness. A graveside service will be held on April 16, 2025, at 11:00
a.m. at the Bosqueville Cemetery in Waco, TX.
Rick Thompson was
born in Emhouse, TX on December 3, 1933 to William Roy and Ruth Hazel
Thompson. In his youth, Rick attended Bradfield Elementary, Highland
Park High School, and Allen Military Academy before graduating high
school in 1951. Rick also attended SMU from 1951-1956, earning his BBA.
A few highlights from Rick's younger years were being a member of the
Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, a Golden Gloves boxer and a dance
instructor at Arthur Murray. Rick enlisted in the Navy in March of 1956
and served at the Construction Battalion Center, Port Hueneme, CA for
two years. Afterward, Rick attended Graduate School at Northwestern
University of Chicago in 1961 earning a Hospital Administration degree.
He was a salesman for KPMC insurance in Dallas and a stockbroker for
Bache and Company for five years. In 1968, Rick went on to work in the
brokerage department at Shearson and Hamill for two years, while living
in Gramercy Park in New York City and obtaining his Master of Arts
degree from New York University in October 1969.
After returning to
Dallas in 1970, he met his current wife Margie in 1975, and they were
married in 1982 at Westminster Abbey in London, England. Rick and
Margie loved to travel, play golf, and play tennis, all while Rick
worked the NY Times crossword puzzles. Rick was always ready to show
card tricks to anyone, and he never missed any opportunity to offer
stock advice, whether you asked him or not. He loved snacking on
walnuts and making his 'famous' tuna fish sandwiches. With a glass of
iced tea, Rick was always eager to sit down for a meal with his
children and grandchildren. He and Margie participated in fellowship
bible studies for many years and found a great community through their
faith. Through various life transitions, Rick and Margie were joined at
the hip and did everything together, making an impact on whomever they
met; their genuine warmth often led to their ending up on a first name
basis with the staff of their favorite restaurants, especially Geroge's
in Waco.
Rick is preceded in
death by his parents and he is survived by his wife, Margie McCarter
Thompson. Rick is survived by his children William R. Thompson (Evelyn)

Death Is Ruled Accidental
by Cleo Beard

by Navarro County authorities.

a support beam in his barn during a fall, according to Justice of the
Peace Connie Mayfield.

barn located in the southwest corner of the community.
Maybield said Watkins was working in the barn that morning and when he
did not return home that afternoon the nephew went to look for him.
It is uncerttain whether Watkins fall was due to a loss of balance or
if he was knocked down by a cow that was in the barn at the time,

was a nice man."

Apr 16, 1958 - Oct 25, 2025
Corsicana, Texas - Clifton Clarence Sikes, of Corsicana, passed away
October 25, 2025, at the age of 67. He was born in Pasadena, California
on April 16, 1958, to Clarence and Beatrice Sikes. He and his family
eventually moved to Texas. In 1969, he was in a farm accident, that
severed his left foot and did some damage to his back. Bill Roughton
drove him in the ambulance to the hospital in Corsicana, and Dr. Scott
Middleton was there, and was able to perform an "experimental" surgery
on him (That saved Clif's foot). Dr. Middleton had recently returned
from Vietnam, where he used that same surgery procedure on some of the
troops. The surgery was written up in the medical journals.
Clifton graduated from Corsicana High School in 1976, and went on to
Navarro College and Tarleton State University, earning a bachelor's and
master's degree in history. In 1982, he married Paula (Crawford) Sikes,
and they were blessed to be together 43 years (June 12).
He counted it a blessing to be able to volunteer for The Texas Baptist
Men, working asset protection for them on numerous occasions following
hurricanes and tornados various places in Texas. He was a high school
teacher in Blooming Grove for 32 years, teaching Government, History,
and Economics. He organized Project Graduation there for many years; to
provide a safe "after-graduation" celebration He truly loved teaching
and loved his students. He especially enjoyed when his former students
were able to get back in touch with him and catch him up on how they
were doing. He loved guns, mustangs, and traveling. He and his wife
(along with their daughter Allison in many cases) took numerous trips
to Europe and were privileged to travel to all 50 states. He was a
member of Central Baptist Church of Blooming Grove and helped with the
safety team there.
For the last two years, he had been a resident at Village of Heritage

Toni (Mann) Brown
Nov 22, 1947 - Oct 15, 2025
Toni departed this earth on October 15, 2025.
She was born in St. Joseph, Missouri on November 22, 1947, to Morton
and Geraldine Mann. She is survived by husband Clifford (Buster) Brown
and daughter Mary Brown of Corsicana, and sister Geri Hansen of
Washington D.C.
Toni wrote that she wanted to be remembered as a devoted wife and
enthusiastic mother ("to say the least") of Mary Brown, and a careful
conservator of the blessings she was allowed to receive in her
lifetime.
She described herself as a "sorta stepmother" to her husband's other
children, Warren, Leighton and Scott, and Toni dearly loved Warren's
wife Louise and their children, Christopher, Peter and Michael.
While growing up in Kansas City, Kansas, Toni attended both public and
private schools and graduated from Barstow School in 1965.
She attended the University of Tulsa where she earned a BA in English
and subsequently earned a MA from the University of Texas at El Paso.
Toni moved to Austin to purse an advanced degree, graduating from the
University of Texas at Austin with a PhD in higher education leadership
and policy. While obtaining her PhD, she worked at the Texas Education
Agency in Austin. Her graduate work and dissertation resulted in
creation of the Texas Student Follow-up Information System (Tex-SIS).
This program, with Toni's assistance, was initiated in at least two
additional states, Michigan and Mississippi.
Toni married Clifford (Buster) Brown in Corsicana in 1982 and in 1984
birthed the joy of her life, Mary Elizabeth.
Only surpassed by her love for and focus on her daughter Mary, was
Toni's focus on education and her community volunteer work.
After ending her professional career, Toni concentrated on being a
wife, mother and serving Corsicana and Navarro County. She was
dedicated to increasing the number of students in the county who wanted
to go beyond a high school education. Toni did this with countless
volunteer hours with the Navarro County College Achievement Program
(CAP). Over many years, she met with hundreds of students who wanted to
go to college, explaining the college admission process and financial
aid.
Toni had a love for books, movies, travel and Willie Nelson music. Her
friends will remember Toni as a true and loyal friend.
In closing, Toni wrote, "Life should be full of laughter, and fun, and
in sharing one's gifts." These are her last words, "Bye
y'all!!!!...pretty good for a Yankee gone Texan." And, of course, Toni
would have loved knowing she had the last word. Hugs from her to all of
you.

Frances Lee McFadden
Nov 22, 1907 - Oct 1937
On Sunday evening, August 8, 1937, the Death Angel came
into the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. McFadden, stretched out a loving
hand and gently lifted Frances Lee out of her suffering to go to a
better home where there is no suffering heartaches or disappointments.
Frances Lee was born at Itasca, Texas, Nov 22, 1907, was a kind, loving
daughter, sister and friend. Was sick so very much but abided by
They will be done, and never did murmur in her lingering illness.
She loved little children and was kind to all whom she came in contact
with. Was always doing some good deed for her friends and parents, shom
she loved very dearly. She leaves, besides her heartbroken parents, a
brother, Ray McFadden, who will always miss her cheerful, kind voice
and gentle, loving hand.
She joined the Eleventh Avenue Methodist church when but a child and
loved to attend church and Sunday school. To know Frances Lee was to
love her and she will be greatly missed here on earth until the time
shall come when we all shall, too, like her, cross over the river of
life. Lonely are their hearts today for one they loved so dearly has
gone away.
She was never too tired to hear and heed the smallest cry of those in
need. She was never impatient in look, or word, by what tender
thoughts her heart was stirred.
Unwearied she asked not for earthly parise, through her nights of
suffering and lonely days, for others spending and being spent, she
found therein sweet content
God in His wisdom, looking from above, said I have a place for you.
Frances, in my Garden of love; it pained our hearets to see her go,
although we knew it best. In our Father's home on high, she will be
forever at rest.
The lamps she lit along life's way, threw their rays on meagor space,
the flowers she scattered, day by day, might have brightened a small
place. Yet if her aim was a higher goal, she cheered some sorrowing,
huungry soul; she, who the upward path would gain, we count her life
was not in vain.

Dorothy Ann (Call) Griffin
Apr 22, 1939 - Feb 25, 2023
Dorothy
Ann (Call) Griffin was born in Corsicana, Texas on April 22, 1939 to
Henry and Martha Call and passed away on Saturday, February 25,
2023. She was a proud graduate of the Corsicana
High School Class of 1957,
and her fondest memories were those of marching in the Corsicana Tiger
Band. After high school, she became an X-Ray technician and met
Dan Griffin while x-raying him for a stomach ulcer! They had
their first date in June of 1958, and then married September 6,
1958. They lived in Dawson and raised two daughters there, Amy
and Anna. Ann worked outside the home at Dawson Elementary and
First National Bank, Corsicana.
In 1980, she started
her own machine embroidery business, "The Back Porch," which she
operated until 1995. Ann was a gifted needle artist, so this
business suited her perfectly. She spent her life sewing,
quilting, crocheting, embroidering, and learning all things that have
to do with needle and thread. She won numerous awards for her
creativity and spent many years as an active member of the Piecemakers
Quilt Guild here in Corsicana She was also a dedicated member of
the CHS Class of ’57 and was in charge of planning class reunions for
many years.
Ann fought a long,
courageous battle with cancer and no matter what, she never
complained. Her kind, gentle spirit remained with her to her last
breath. She passed away surrounded by her husband, her daughters
and sons-in-law, her grandchildren, her grandsons-in-law, and her three
great grandsons.
Ann is survived by
her husband of 64 years, Dan; her sister Martha Wilcox and husband, Bo,
her daughters, Amy Gibbs and husband, Chris and Anna Sanders and
husband Mark; granddaughters, Jessica Hawkins and husband, Cody, Callie
Tkach and husband, Chris and Audrey Sanders; grandson, Zack
Callarman, and great grandsons, James Kelly Tkach, Lee William Tkach
and McCrae Call Hawkins.
The family would
like to express their sincere gratitude for the true love and kindness
shown to Ann by the nurses of Bristol Pathways Hospice (Ashley, Serina,
Kimberly, and Jennifer) and the chaplain Brother David Bible. You
all have become family and we appreciate so much your love and support.
Ann exemplified the
virtues of the Proverbs 31 woman:
Who can find a
virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. The
heart of her husband safely trusts in her, so that he shall have no
need of spoil. She will do him good and not evil all the days of
her life…strength and honor are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in
time to come…she opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the
law of kindness…her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband
also, and he praises her…a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be
praised.
We loved her, we
miss her, and we all long for the day we see her again in Heaven.
Thanks be to God!
