"A good name is better than precious ointment, and the day of death
than the day of ones birth."
--(Ecclesiastes 7-1)
Asking little and giving much she knew life,
Nobly did she live to the fullest extent—
As if by some power divine within her
She was a Christian who knew what it meant
Courageous through the last moment,
She played life with an immortal hand—
Meeting death with a smile
This woman had the very essence of man.
Sleep softly thou brave hearted.
You have gone on to heavenly ground.
Humbly do we seek to know sense of peace yours so profound.

------
Hollis Aldridge Johnson
Tuesday, October 9th, 1934 - Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019
Hollis A. Johnson, age 84, of Gun Barrel City, Texas left this
earthly world on April 2, 2019 from his home. He was born in
Rule, Texas on October 9, 1934 to Homer Worth Johnson and Jewell
Tidrow Johnson. He was the baby and the only boy of four
children.
He loved picking on his older sisters. He also loved music,
laughing and seeing his family happy. He was always working at
being a "hell raiser" when he was younger and became more
stubborn when he got older. You could always find him playing
with his grandchildren all 15 of them, his snippy, snappy
Chihuahuas, or his beloved cat.
Hollis was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great
grandfather and great-great grandfather. He loved anything that
involved, his Chihuahuas, his precious Dallas cowboys and the
color purple. He was the peacemaker in the family.
While working for the city of Dallas as a street cleaner he had
acquired a CB handle. His handle was “Wet Spot” because he would
leave wet spots on the streets he cleaned.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his 3 sisters, 3 wives
and step-sons, Raymond Paul Ayscue and Alvin T. Stanley.
Hollis is survived by his children; Hollistell Johnson, Hollene
Willett, Jeanine Cathey and husband Sonny, and Kathy Pate, his
step-children; Alvin Stanley, David Stanely and wife Tamela,
James Ayscue and Michael Ayscue. He will be loved forever by all
those he left behind, including 15 grandchildren, 33
great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, April 6, 2019 at
10:00 AM at Corley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Gary Hanks
officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Stanley,
Derrick Watson, James Mercer, Sr., Homer Johnson and 2
alternates. Burial will follow at
Dresden Cemetery.
An online guestbook is available at www.corleyfuneralhome.com
