and county officials, and her mother was a sister of the late
Alexander Beaton, after whom Beaton street, Corsicana’s principal
business thoroughfare, was named and a pioneer business man and
property owner of Corsicana.
She was of a very quiet and unassuming disposition yet was always
friendly and courteous and of the true Southern aristocratic nature,
ever hospitable and kindly. She had hosts of friends among the older

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR PIONEER LOCAL DOCTOR WEDNESDAY
DR. T. A. MILLER WAS PRACTICING PHYSICIAN HERE FOR MANY YEARS
Funeral services for Dr. T. A. Miller, 702 West Ninth avenue, aged
66 years, native of Ellis county, and well-known physician here for many
years, prominent in medical circles of Texas, who died Monday night
following a short illness, were held at Oakwood
cemetery where interment was made
Wednesday afternoon, at 4 o’clock. The services were conducted by Dr.
Batsell Baxter, president of Abilene Christian College, Abilene, Texas.
Dr. Miller graduated from the college of medicine of the University
of Tennessee in 1888. He was president of the Navarro County Medical
Society in 1914 and was a charter member of that organization. He also
was a member of the Texas and American Medical Societies.

Many Floral offerings.
The family requested only simple floral offerings, and the offerings
were received from people of all walks of life.
The five sons were pallbearers, Sutherland Funeral Home directed the
funeral.
With a long record of medical practice in Corsicana and the
surrounding community, Dr. Miller was one of the most widely known and
best loved men in this entire community. He was not only the skilled
practitioner to the physically ill but as well a friend and counsellor
to those who were depressed in spirit. It has been the privilege of few
men to give to his fellowman the aid and comfort that Dr. Miller daily
spread among his patients and friends and the public in general.
Of a quiet and kindly and courteous disposition, he went his way
unostentatiously giving relief in pain and comforting words and deeds to
the down-hearted and the needy. Dr. Miller was in his prime when the
horse and buggy were the only mode of transportation in reaching his
patients and no night was too dark or cold and blustery for him to come
when called, and when weather conditions made the roads impassable,
which were frequent in the old days, he made his rounds on horseback.
And when he entered the home he brought good nature and cheer as well as
medical skill with him.
He was a life-long Christian but did not cry it from the housetops;
rather he carried it in his soul and spread it through personal contact
from day to day. He was a man of settled ideas on all matters pertaining
to life, spiritual as well as temporal, but he never made an attempt to
foist these ideas on anyone. He realized well the frailties of humanity
and if he had any criticism to offer it was of a kindly and constructive
nature, never harsh and unkind.
In the passing of Dr. T. A. Miller from the walks of man, one of
nature’s noblemen has passed to a well-deserved reward, and many an
unseen tear was shed at his passing and many a heart was saddened when
the word went out that this kindly, good man, and physician had laid
down his earthly burden to take up the higher life promised the meek in
spirit and the real Christian.
