OBITUARY
 Steven Shipman
Oct 26, 1959 - Jun 22, 2026
Steven John Shipman, beloved husband, father, son, grandfather,
brother, and cherished friend, passed away on June 22, 2026. He was
born in Lubbock, Texas, on October 26, 1959, to Johnny Monroe Shipman
and Suzanne McNeil Shipman. While he spent part of his childhood in
Lubbock, Steven lived most of his life in Carrollton, Texas. After
graduating from R.L. Turner High School in 1978, he completed trade
school. Blending learned skills with his passions, Steven’s career
included entrepreneurship with his company Lumigraphics and various
fabrication work. Though seasons of his career brought him joy, his
true passion was for the outdoors, his family, friends and his faith.
From a young
age, Steven had a deep love for nature, often saying he would rather be
outdoors. From childhood summers building birdhouses and exploring with
his Pap, sharing his love of gardening and astronomy with his
daughters, to the mountain and fishing trips he cherished with his wife
and family, he was a true nature enthusiast. Steven was an avid hunter
and fisherman, always prioritizing time in the wild doing what he loved
most. He often shared that “the river was his church,” where the peace
and quiet of nature allowed him to have his best conversations with the
Lord. Steven loved his family and friends dearly. His compassion,
selflessness, and peacemaking spirit were reflected in every
interaction with him. He would gladly spend hours on the phone,
listening with genuine interest to every exciting story, heartache, or
new passion someone wanted to share. He had a remarkable way of making
people feel heard and never like a burden, always putting others before
himself. A true gentle soul, he embodied the love the Lord calls us to
show. Steven was easy to love, and he freely gave that love in return.
In 1973, Steven attended a church youth river rafting trip where he
accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. Through every hardship or every
blessing that followed, he continued to build upon that faith. In some
of his final moments, he spoke of being with the Lord and reminded his
family of Jesus’ love for them. While we rejoice that he is now in the
presence of the Lord, he will be deeply missed. Steven is survived by
Joyce, his wife of 38 years; his daughters, Sarah and Halee; and his
grandchildren, Phoebe and Harvey John. He is also survived by his
mother, Suzanne; his father and stepmother, Johnny and Jill; and his
brother, David, along with his wife, Shannon, and their son, Thomas.
Steven was preceded in death by his brother, Derek.
Floral
arrangements may be delivered to First Baptist Church at The Fields,
1401 Carrollton Pkwy, Carrollton, TX 75010 by 8 a.m. on July 11th,
where a celebration of life will be held in Steven’s honor.
