OBITUARY
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
BETTY RICHARDSON
MAY 6, 1953 - APRIL 28, 2026
Betty Ruth
Holley Richardson, born on May 6, 1953, in Dallas, Texas, passed away
peacefully on April 28, 2026, in Centennial, Colorado, after facing
Parkinson’s Disease with strength and grace following her diagnosis in
2021.
Betty was born
and raised in Dallas, where she met Mickey, her husband of 55 years,
through a mutual friend. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother,
and she will be lovingly remembered by her son, Cory Richardson; her
daughter, Crissy Richardson Lodmell; their spouses; and her seven
grandchildren.
Betty worked
for many years as a salon owner and hair stylist in her North Texas
community and was a faithful member of the Baptist Church. She and
Mickey moved to Amarillo in 1992 and eventually to Sierra Bonita, New
Mexico, in 2013. They spent her last few months in Centennial, Colorado.
Betty loved to
travel. She visited all 50 states, frequently road-tripping and camping
with Mickey and their grandchildren. One of her favorite annual
traditions was planning and hosting a week of games, activities, and
field trips each summer for all of her grandchildren, affectionately
called “Grandkids’ Camp.”
Among Betty’s
greatest achievements was her involvement in the establishment of the
Sierra Bonita Rincon Volunteer Fire Department with her husband,
Mickey, and her coordination of its support group since its inception
in 2014. She was beloved in the Sierra Bonita neighborhood as well as
the surrounding communities.
Betty’s faith
was of utmost importance to her. She led multiple Bible studies for
ladies over the years, and she was a living example of a good and
faithful servant. She continually prayed for her family, her church,
and her community.
Her friends
and family will gather to honor Betty’s life and legacy on May 4, 2026,
with services held at Bill DeBerry Funeral Directors, located at 2025
W. University Drive, Denton, Texas. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m.,
with a service celebrating Betty’s life to follow at 10:00 a.m.
Following the service, Betty will be laid to rest at Hilltop Memorial
Park, 1810 N. Perry Rd., Carrollton, Texas. The burial is scheduled to
begin at 12:00 p.m.
For those who
wish to honor Betty’s memory with a memorial gift, donations may be
made online to Parkinson Voice Project at
parkinsonvoiceproject.org/Donate/ or by check to Sierra Bonita Rincon
Volunteer Fire Department Support (SBR VFD Support).
