OBITUARY
Joseph Edward Oliver
January 17, 1956 - December 17, 2024
Joseph "Joe" E. Oliver of Highland Village, Texas peacefully left his
earthly body on December 17, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones after a
long and courageous battle with cancer at age 68.
Joe was born on January 17, 1956 in Dallas, Texas to parents Edward and
Peggy Perry Oliver of Carrollton, Texas, who preceded him in death. He
graduated from RL Turner in 1974. After graduating from high school Joe
went on to work as a sales representative for Hauserman in Dallas. He
then held a few interesting jobs that fueled his creativity including
working as service technician for Continental Office Supplies and
Business Interiors and as a carpenter for TW Designs and Wisteria in
Dallas. He later founded and operated Deal Me in Casino Parties in the
metroplex area. Joe was also involved in the community coaching many
years of softball for his daughter Catherine, serving as the Vice
President for the Perry Cemetery in Carrollton and volunteering for the
Special Olympics.
Never one to slow down, Joe was a man whose humor, quick wit and
presence could always be counted on. He was a constant source of
strength, wisdom and generosity. Whether it was telling a funny story
or joke, fixing an appliance, building furniture or offering his hand
to help anyone in need, Joe was the go-to person. No task project was
too great or too small; his hands were always busy mending, building
and giving. His love for family, big heart and the ability to make
everyone laugh was unmatched.
He is survived by his wife Della of 43 years and daughters Catherine
Oliver (fiancé Joseph Hathcock), Amber Creswell and DeAnna McDearmont,
son-law Scott, grandchildren Kaitlyn Mac and Morgan, his sister Fancy
Tanner and brother-in-law Mike and numerous beloved extended family and
friends.
Though his soul has left his body, his humor, spirit of service and
selflessness remains to all who knew and loved him. In his life, he
taught those around him the value of hard work, perseverance and
kindness. Joe’s legacy lives on in every task he completed, every
problem solved and every life touched.
Visitation will be held at Dalton and Son in Lewisville, Texas on
December 20, 2024 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. There will be a graveside
service following at Perry Cemetery in Carrollton, Texas. Scott
McDearmont will officiate the service. Pallbearers include Joseph
Hathcock, Jesse Miller, Jeremy Miller, Steve Kuzmich, Steve Cortez and
Chet Gray.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the historical Perry
Cemetery Association at 2114 Antibes Drive, Carrollton, TX 75006.
