OBITUARY
 The
Very Reverend Father Dimitri Cozby, 71 most recently of Victoria, fell
asleep in the Lord, Thursday, May 30th in Houston. Father Dimitri,
suffered a stroke nine days prior.
The funeral
service will be held at 10:00AM Tuesday, June 4th at All Saints
Orthodox Church, 8394 Nursery Drive in Victoria. A Panikhida Service
will be held at 10:00AM Wednesday, June 5th at St. Anthony the Great
Orthodox Church, 103 Carolina Street in San Antonio. Colleague and
longtime friend Father Leo Poore will be officiating both services.
Burial will follow at Holy Archangels Monastery in Kendalia, Texas.
Father Dimitri
was born, James "Jim" Arthur Cozby, Jr., October 22nd, 1947 in
Lewisville, Texas to the late James Arthur, Sr. and Vivian Tannahill
Cozby. After graduating high school, Jim attended American University
in Washington where he achieved his Bachelor's Degree in Political
Science. Jim married his love, Susan Mary Ramsay, June 6th, 1971. Jim
looked to further his education seeking a Masters in Divinity, at Holy
Cross Greek Seminary in Boston, Massachusetts where he graduated as
Valedictorian in 1972. Jim was ordained to the priesthood in the
Orthodox Church, February 24, 1973 and became, Father Dimitri Cozby.
Father Dimitri went on to earn his PhD. from Duke University in 1984.
Father Dimitri could speak 12 languages and could read 5 others. Over
the years he has served as priest in Chicago, IL; Clayton, WI; Raleigh,
NC; San Antonio, TX; and Victoria, TX. Father Dimitri served on
numerous committees over the years, mostly dealing with Ethics and was
passionate about his volunteer work with CASA. Father Dimitri was well
known voice and resource of the Orthodox Church, his knowledge and
leadership will be deeply missed. When not serving the church, Father
Dimitri's passion were his two grandchildren and his family.
