OBITUARY   David Lynn Colby Apr 18, 1956 - Aug 26, 2026 Frisco, Texas David Lynn Colby, 70, passed away on August 26, 2026, in Dallas, Texas, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, and friend who dedicated much of his life to his family, his community, and the people around him. David was born on April 18, 1956, to Lewis “Pete” and JoAnn Colby of Farmers Branch, Texas. He graduated from R.L. Turner High School in 1974. On November 26, 1977, David married the love of his life, Debbie Colby. Together, they built a life filled with family, love, laughter, and countless memories. David’s family was at the center of his world, and he took great pride in being a husband, father, and Papa. Throughout his life, David had a genuine gift for connecting with people. He worked for many years with the Frisco RoughRiders and later at Tender Smokehouse. Wherever he worked, David was known for his welcoming nature, his willingness to help, and his ability to make people feel like they belonged. He especially enjoyed mentoring younger employees, sharing his knowledge and experience, and encouraging them along the way. The relationships he built through his work became an important part of his life. David also had a tremendous love for cooking and baking. He was happiest when he could make something for other people to enjoy. He regularly prepared food for events, schools, churches, and community gatherings, generously sharing both his time and his talents. His chocolate pie, sausage balls, and homemade whipped cream were among his most requested specialties. Food was one of the ways David brought people together, and he took great joy in seeing others enjoy something he had made with his own hands. David is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie Colby; and their children Brandon Colby and his wife Kristen, Cara Synatzske and her husband Brian, Joshua Jones and his wife Flor, Clayton Colby and his wife Abbi and Cayla Goodson and her husband David. He was a proud Papa to Berkley, Brodie, and Britton Synatzske; Bryson Jones; Kensley and Jack Nathan Daniels; Caleb Dewbre; Alayna and Brianna Colby; Isabella Sterlacci and Payslee, Abram, and Laramie Goodson. David was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis “Pete” Colby and JoAnn Colby; his sister, Debra Kay and his son Jason David Colby. David will be remembered for his generous heart, his love of family, his sense of community, and the genuine care he showed to others. He had a way of making people feel welcome, whether around a dinner table, at a community event, at work, or simply through a conversation. He leaves behind not only a family who loved him deeply, but also countless people whose lives were made better because they knew him. His greatest legacy will be the love he poured into his family, the friendships he built, the people he encouraged, and the memories he created along the way. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by those who had the privilege of calling him husband, Dad, Papa, “OMC”, “Colby” and friend. So, though you have sorrow now, I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take your joy from you. John 16:22 There will be a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Prestonwood Baptist Church-North Campus, Worship Center with a visitation prior to the service at 10:00 a.m.
