OBITUARY
 William Penn "Trey" Adair, III
Nov 8, 1959 - Sep 8, 2021
William (Trey) Penn Adair III, age 61 of Dallas, passed away on
Wednesday, Sep. 8, 2021, due to complications associated with an
artificial heart valve. Trey was always quick to credit the "pig valve"
and the surgeon that implanted it with extending his life for over two
decades during which he was able to live a full life that included
travel throughout the U.S. and Canada, the Caribbean, and many
international destinations. Those precious years also allowed him to be
a huge part of his daughter Brianna's life participating as a parent in
support of all of her school activities and eventually as a teacher,
coach, and "theater set builder extraordinaire" for the Westwood School
in Dallas where he became a full-time member of the teaching staff in
2010.
Trey was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma in 1959 to Mary Jane Shore and William
P. Adair, Jr. Trey spent his early years in Madill, Oklahoma, and then
attended grade, middle, and high school in Ada, Oklahoma where he was a
member of the Ada High Class of 1978. He was also a member of Ada's Boy
Scout Troop 4, and one of the legendary Angus McFarlane's over 200
Eagle Scouts. After high school, Trey attended Oklahoma State
University earning a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering (1982) and,
following a move to Midland, Texas, earned an MBA from the University
of Texas (1989). He was a registered Professional Engineer in Texas and
Founder/President of Advirotech, Inc., a Dallas-based environmental
engineering firm.
When the Dallas Stars moved to Texas in 1993, Trey became a Dallas
Stars season ticket holder and an avid hockey fan. He loved all aspects
of the game and taught Brianna the names and numbers of all the players
when she was 3 years old. The father-daughter pair made countless
memories watching Stars games, attending games and playoff matches, and
were so excited to be able to attend the NHL Winter Classic together in
Dallas in 2020. The two also shared countless Disney adventures
together driving many times to Florida and back listening to the
classic rock music that they both loved.
The scouting experiences of his youth sparked a life-long love the
outdoors and Trey never grew tired of teaching outdoor skills to his
students at Westwood. He was a staff volunteer on many of the school
Adventure Leadership Program trips teaching camping, hiking, and
canoeing skills and traveling with classes to many destinations in
Texas and surrounding states.
Trey was preceded in death by his younger brother Jeff and their
father. He is survived by his mother Jane Adair of Ada, Oklahoma, his
daughter Brianna Lynne Adair of Frisco, and several young adults to
whom he was a much-loved second dad.
Visitation will be Wednesday, Sep. 15 from 10 a.m. until noon in the
chapel at the Metrocrest Funeral Home and Hilltop Memorial Park 1810 N
Perry Rd, Carrollton, TX 75006. A private celebration of life and
interment will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, honorary
donations may be made in Trey's name to the Dallas Stars Foundation at
