Carrollton Shopping Village officially Opens
Merchants in the Carrollton Highlands Shopping Center will go all-out
this week end as they celebrate the formal opening of the village
Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Oct 2-4.
During the three-day celebration event, special purchases hae been made
to serve the large crowd expected and all merchants in the center are
offering bargains galore in order to celebrate the grand opening.

Bradford Rexall Open
Touching off the grand
opening fever in the center was the opening of Bradfored Rexall Drug
Store, the newest firm to locate in the village.
The modern 6,000 sq. ft.
self-service drug store has set Friday and Saturday as their formal
opening but will take part in the day earlier activities, according to
Sonny Bradford.
Besides its larg floor
space, he new drug store has self-service and checkout facilities in
every department except prescription and at its modern up-to-date
fountain.
Free Prizes
Bradford Rexall will give away a host of free prizes with registration being the only requirement.
According to Mr. Bradford, the prizes will be given away on Saturay, October 11, with "no strings attached - just register."
Among the free pizes will
be a $300 Shetland pony complete with saddle to sme lucky winner. Other
prizes include a Remington Roll-Electric Razor, Hi-Fi record player in
zipper leather carring case, Sunbeam hair dryer, Brownie Hawkeye camera
set, and other valuable merchandise.
Registeration for prizes
started early this week and will continue throughout the celecration.
Visitors may register each and every time they enter the Rexall store,
Mr. Rexford said.

TG&Y Locates First Store
During the formal opening
of the Carrollton Highlands Shopping Center this week end, October 2, 3
and 4, will be featured many specials in the TG&Y Store including
items for each member of the family.
William Edwards is manager
of the modern departmentalized 5 cent to $1 store which was opened for
business on March 21. It boasts of the following special
depatments: Dry Goods, Toy, Horticultura Household and Gifts.
The TG&Y chain has better than 130 stores operating in eight southern and southwestern states.
The local store has a
spacious 8,400 square feet of floor space that is summer and winter air
conditioned for the comfort of the customer.
The Carrollton unit has all the latest in merchandisng fixtures and is 100% self service.
Mr. Edwards stated that
TG&Y thinks that the possibilities in this locality are extremely
bright and is most happy to be growing and expanding with the area.

A&P In Center
The Carrollton
Highlands Shopping has the modern 15,000 square foot A&P Super
Market to serve the people of Carrollton, Farmers Branch, Lewisville,
Lake Dallas, Plano, Addison, Renner, Grapevine, Coppell and other
cmmunities in northern and northwest Dallas County with the many every
day bargains offered in all stores in the chain.
Special featues are
self-service meat department, separate tobacco counter, and
store-length fresh vegetable department. One feature of importance is
the electrically controlled exit door that operates automatically.
Eric Wiegand is the
manager of the new store after being connected with the company for 20
years, many of them spent here in the Carrollton-Farmers Branch
area. He is also a Carrollton City Councilman and active church
and civic work.
O. I. Black is
vice-presiident of the nation's oldest and largest chain of food
stores-having been founded in 1859-and in charge of the operations in
Carrollton.
Mr. Wiegand has extended a
inviatation to allo residents in the local trading area to visit the
store during the formal opening week end, October 2,3, and 4. He
indicated that parking space for more than a thousand cars in located
adjacent to the new A&P Store.

OTHER FIRMS
Other firms in the Carrollton Centering offering specials during the
celebration event are Galchutt Hardware, Asa Johnson's Magnolia Service
Station, Kohl's Dairy Mart, and Hunt's Cleaners and Laundry.
These merchants have extended a special invitation to the general
public to be on hand this week. Besides the special prices on
merchandise some of them are offering free rides for kiddies on various
days. |
